A huge round of applause and some pretty big cheers as Arthur Fery retreats to the baseline to begin serving in this first set.

  2. Fery will be 'like Rocky Balboa'published at 14:13 BST 4 July

I think the crowd will be a big factor for Arthur Fery because if he thinks anything about fatigue, the crowd will make him forget about that. He'll be like Rocky Balboa.

  3. 'Huge queue'published at 14:13 BST 4 July

There is a huge queue snaking the whole way around court 18, with people hoping to catch a glimpse of the last British player left standing in the singles.

I’m not sure they’ll have much luck. Some fans have been here since the first match this morning and they’re not prepared to give their seat up now.

Arthur Fery gets a big cheer as he makes his way onto the court and starts warming up.

  4. 'It would be a big upset'published at 14:12 BST 4 July

    Bergs v Fery

    Jonathan Overend
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

Arthur Fery has successfully made it out of the locker room and on to court 18.

The 23-year-old lives just around the corner. He is 114 in the world but he will move into the world's top 100 if he wins today, which would be a big upset.

His opponent Zizou Bergs is the Eastbourne champion. He is a man who likes playing on the grass, he has an attacking style and he has a lot of personality. He will start the favourite, but can Fery cause the upset?

  5. 'Top 100 just the beginning' for Ferypublished at 14:11 BST 4 July

    Bergs v Fery

    Kyle Edmund
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arthur Fery will be aware of where he currently is in the world rankings. I think he was about 113 in the live rankings, but making the top 100 is a nice achievement. I don't think that should be a massive thing for him though, I personally think he should be aiming for the top 50 and once he has hit that then the top 20.

He has the game and the IQ to go that far in this sport. I think that top 100 is just the beginning of him being on tour and I expect him to progress from there.

  6. Short in stature but not confidence - can Fery continue SW19 run?published at 14:10 BST 4 July

Arthur Fery is probably sick of people mentioning his height.

At 5ft 9in, the British number three is shorter than many of his peers on the ATP Tour.

The Wimbledon grass often suits 'servebots' - tall players who send down flurries of aces and unreturnable first serves. Fery does not fall into that category.

But the 23-year-old has shown he has other tools to hurt opponents and plans to use them against Zizou Bergs, a 6ft 1in Belgian, when they meet on Saturday for a place in the fourth round.

The world number 114 is carrying British hopes at the All England Club after becoming the sole home player to reach the third round of the singles.

"Arthur has to be an exceptional mover - he's got a very good first serve, but he's not going to get as many cheap points by hitting people off the court," said Alex Ward, a men's national coach with the Lawn Tennis Association who has been guiding Fery.

    Eala 3-2 Swiatek*

Now it’s Iga Swiatek’s turn to direct her frustrations towards her coaching box. A couple of poor returns have allowed Alexandra Eala to wriggle out of that service game.

    Eala 3-2 Swiatek*

There is no such thing as a straightforward service game so far in this match, it seems.

Alexandra Eala looked to be on course for one after showing great speed into the net and then putting away a volley to go up 40-15.

However, a weak attempted drop shot into the net on the next point lets Iga Swiatek back in, she takes it to deuce but Eala comes through to hold.

Eala is winning points in so many different ways. That is a big problem for Iga Swiatek if Eala keeps this up.

  10. 'Fery backs himself'published at 14:09 BST 4 July

I worked on Arthur Fery's second round match against Otto Virtanen - and what a match it was.

It will be his first time playing in the third round and it doesn't get much better than playing on the middle Saturday at Wimbledon. I once faced Novak Djokovic on the middle Saturday and it was a great feeling. This is why he does all the training and makes all the sacrifices. It is great to see him reaping the rewards.

I expect to see him really expressing himself from the back of the court and on the baseline, but he won't be afraid to come in. He will slice a lot, he will drop shot and he will even serve and volley. He backs himself - and I can't wait to see him in action again.

    Mertens 7-6 (7-4) 0-0 Rybakina*

That's one set point down as now it's Elise Mertens' turn to double fault.

But she makes the next one count with a big first serve.

The Belgian roars "come on!" with the first set now in the bag.

Wildcard Arthur Fery is the last remaining British hope in the singles draw.

The 23-year-old faces Belgium's Zizou Bergs for a place in the fourth round on court 18.

Fery has already exceeded his previous best run at a Grand Slam - having never gone beyond the second round - can he continue to break new ground today?

  13. 'I haven't seen one ounce of doubt in Mertens'published at 14:05 BST 4 July

    *Mertens 6-6 (6-3) Rybakina

    Jeff Tarango

Elise Mertens is really showing belief here, isn't she? She plays great tennis, especially on the fast courts, after growing up on the Belgian indoor courts. She is showing vast amounts of confidence here, I haven't seen one ounce of doubt in her whatsoever against the world number two.

  14. Set point Mertenspublished at 14:05 BST 4 July

    *Mertens 6-6 (6-3) Rybakina

Is that going to be the key mistake as Elena Rybakina mishits a forehand on serve and it lands in the net.

A double fault then gives Elise Mertens three set points

  15. Eala breaks straight backpublished at 14:04 BST 4 July

    *Eala 2-2 Swiatek

Superb from Alexandra Eala to immediately break back.

After another double fault from Iga Swiatek opens the door at 15-30, Eala attacks the second serve to thump a backhand winner down the line.

Two break points but Swiatek digs in to save both.

No bother for Eala she earns another with a cross-court backhand and Swiatek goes long on the next point. We're back on serve.

  16. Tie-breakpublished at 14:03 BST 4 July

    *Mertens 6-6 (3-3) Rybakina

Not much between these two in the tie-break so far as we head to the change of ends at 3-3.

It feels like one mistake or one moment of brilliance is going to sway this first set.

  18. 'Unforced errors cost them'published at 14:01 BST 4 July

    *Mertens 6-6 (1-1) Rybakina

    Jeff Tarango
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both ladies are a little bit disappointed in themselves at the minute. At 30-30 on both of their serves, they both made a couple of unforced errors which cost them their service games.

We are in the tie-breaker now and it is a 'you pick them' situation right now. Elise Mertens is playing really well but Elena Rybakina is struggling with the ups and downs at the minute.

  19. Tie-breakpublished at 13:59 BST 4 July

    Mertens 6-6 (0-0) Rybakina*

Elena Rybakina is testing Elise Mertens with some powerful backhands once again but the Belgian 25th seed rises to the test.

Mertens puts a backhand into the net before looking to the sky in anguish as she offers up a break point and Rybakina makes it count.

    We're heading to a tie-break.
