Carlos Alcaraz secured his first Australian Open final after battling back from the brink amid serious physical issues to defeat Alexander Zverev in a dramatic five-set epic.
The Spaniard won 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (3-7) 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 after an enthralling five hours and 27 minutes in Melbourne.

That's an opening, though! Novak Djokovic completely misjudges a Jannik Sinner backhand, taking the decision to leave it but having to watch as it lands perfectly on the line.
High-pressure moments for Djokovic, but he deals with it superbly with a flying cross-court forehand. He briefly pauses for breath with his hands on his knees but returns to business and holds.

Compared to the first set, Djokovic is way more in control in some of these rallies.
His court positioning is better, he is getting Sinner across the court more and he looks less stressed in the rallies.

The advice/encouragement does the trick. The Italian opens the third set with a hold to love, finding four first serves - including an ace - and finishing the game with a backhand winner.

A very big change of tactics from Djokovic. It was very clear that he was going to inject extra pace and power, stopping Sinner from controlling all of the rallies.
At the start I thought this was going to be an impressive, straight sets victory for Sinner. Djokovic, with his experience, has changed the rhythm of the match.

He has ended a run of 10 consecutive sets won by Sinner in their meetings, and after a walkover and retirement in his previous matches, it is his first set won at the Australian Open since Saturday.
