Novak Djokovic pulls a point back but then double-faults - one into the net, the other pinging off the net chord and away.

We've been here before and so often, Jannik Sinner has failed to capitalise.

Loose from Novak Djokovic, a forehand approach missing the baseline by an inch or two.

Another second serve. Another booming return from Jannik Sinner. And, a few shots later, a wild forehand from Djokovic. 0-30. Eek.

Even if Djokovic goes on to win this match, I don’t think he can win the final unfortunately. As we saw last year, matches take too much out of him. He can absolutely beat Sinner or Alcaraz in a tournament, but not both in succession. Love to be proved wrong!

    Sinner 6-3 3-6 6-4 4-6 2-1 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic is so wonderfully expressive. His mouth is agape and his hands on his hips as a bending forehand just misses the line.

Jannik Sinner holds to love with an ace.

The two Grand Slam semi-finals went to five sets for the first time since Wimbledon 2018 (Anderson-Isner and Djokovic-Nadal) and for the first time at the Australian Open since 2017 (Federer-Wawrinka and Nadal-Dimitrov).

Jannik Sinner isn't helping himself here. Consecutive unforced errors from his backhand allow Novak Djokovic to escape the game.

The early results of the 'who will win?' vote are in and you're backing Djokovic (2,250 to 1,800-ish).

This is what we have been waiting for this whole tournament.

I just thought after Djokovic's performance against Musetti, this would be the last of him - but it's been anything but that.

It has been intriguing to see how he has put the tactics in, unleashing power after the first set, the absolute precision serving - I am admiring so much how he is playing.

Jannik Sinner was broken in the opening game of the fourth set but he avoids that fate this time around.

Novak Djokovic succeeds in wrapping his racquet around a ferocious cross-court forehand return but it's his only point of the game.

Sinner lands four of his five first serves. He needs it to be near-faultless in this set.

Djokovic looks to be in control, his balance is so good in these rallies. Sinner is leaning forward, jumping and snapping at the ball.

Djokovic is like a squash player, just standing in the middle of the court moving his opponents around.

Sinner is frustrated. He cannot get him out of position.

Novak Djokovic converts his third set point to take this match into a fifth set. We had to wait for drama at this year's Australian Open but my word, the semi-finals have delivered.

I let you vote for the winner at the start of play and it was overwhelmingly in Jannik Sinner's favour.

How are we all feeling now? Thumbs up for Sinner, thumbs down for Djokovic.

Let. A first serve misses the T. Oh, the tension.

A lengthy baseline exchange follows the second serve and Novak Djokovic lets out a shout as Jannik Sinner's forehand goes out.

  15. Set points Djokovicpublished at 13:29 GMT 30 January

    Sinner 6-3 3-6 6-4 4-5 Djokovic*

Jannik Sinner gets a lucky lead, stretching to return a wide serve and firing back a forehand at a hideous angle.

However, he can't return the next two serves into the court and then Novak Djokovic produces his 10th ace of the match to earn two set points.

I cannot remember the last time Sinner actually hit a backhand down the line with any result. It has been a long, long time.

It has been one of the big improvements in his game but he hasn't been allowed to hit that shot, which would get Djokovic on the run.

Novak Djokovic comes through the hold, letting out a "come on" as Jannik Sinner sends a forehand long for advantage before pounding a forehand winner.

In between points, he had words with the chair umpire about the raucousness of the crowd.

Sinner had two break points and couldn't convert them. He's serving to stay in the fourth set.

Another break point for Jannik Sinner. He nails a deep forehand return to leave Novak Djokovic on his heels before exploding into life with a cross-court rocket.

    He needs to convert this.
