Marcus Willis, whose first-round men's doubles match is under way on court 8, is not one for revelling in nostalgia.

But given the 35-year-old Briton is best known for lobbing Roger Federer on Centre Court, he knows his 2016 Wimbledon exploits will follow him for the rest of his life.

Ten years ago, Willis endeared himself to the nation with a heart-warming run from qualifying to a second-round tie against one of the greatest players of all time.

While the world number 772 lost 6-0 6-3 6-4, he won the BBC's Shot of the Tournament for picking off Federer with a delicious shot and ensured he would forever be a Wimbledon cult hero.

"People say, did you enjoy every moment? No, I was playing a tennis match. It's not always fun," Willis, who begins his Wimbledon men's doubles campaign on Wednesday, told BBC Sport.

"I'm very grateful for the chance to have been on Centre Court - that's wild - but I wanted to win on Centre Court.

"It's strange looking back because it feels like another lifetime."

  2. Sinner holdspublished at 13:53 BST

    Sinner 2-2 Borges*

Jannik Sinner hit 31 aces in his first-round match and he's already up to four today.

A shanked forehand at 40-0 is the only blemish in a routine hold.

  3. Sabalenka holdspublished at 13:52 BST

    Sabalenka 6-1 1-1 Kessler*

Aryna Sabalenka gathers herself to hold with a couple more big first serves.

Every time McCartney Kessler gets a spark of hope Sabalenka extinguishes it.

McCartney Kessler can't deal with a couple of big first serves from Aryna Sabalenka, but fights back with a backhand return which the Belarusian can do little about.

Sabalenka then plods a backhand into the net and the game heads to deuce.

More eye rolls from the world number one.

  5. Borges holdspublished at 13:50 BST

    *Sinner 1-2 Borges

Nuno Borges is on course for a similarly effortless hold to love, racing to 40-0, but a double fault opens the door for Jannik Sinner.

The Italian gets on top of the next rally off a second serve, hitting the baseline with multiple strokes before forcing an error from Borges at the net, but misses out on deuce with a netted forehand of his own.

  6. 'Sabalenka hitting three or four inches above the net'published at 13:48 BST

    *Sabalenka 6-1 0-1 Kessler

    Jeff Tarango
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Live

McCartney Kessler is going to have to capitalise on the fact that she is winning 70% of the second serve points from Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka is serving great on her first serves, hitting 71% in and winning 77% of her first serve points, so she is dominating on those first serves.

What I really like about Sabalenka's game right now is the fact she is keeping the ball a lot lower over the net. Instead of playing it safe, she is hitting the ball three or four inches above the net, which makes it really hard off the bounce on the grass.

  7. Kessler holdspublished at 13:48 BST

    *Sabalenka 6-1 0-1 Kessler

Aryna Sabalenka is letting out some mighty cries as she strikes the ball but she's off target with a couple of forehands and McCartney Kessler holds at the start of the second set.

The American has not done much wrong today, it's more a case of Sabalenka playing at such a high level.

  8. Sinner holds to lovepublished at 13:46 BST

    Sinner 1-1 Borges*

A breezy hold for Jannik Sinner.

Ace number one of the day sets up 40-0 and he's quickly up to the net on game point, sliding into a drop shot and converting his backhand down the line.

That's one way to get the Centre Court crowd on side.

Nuno Borges will be up against it today, but people love an underdog and he's already entertained them with one great escape this afternoon.

  10. Borges holdspublished at 13:44 BST

    *Sinner 0-1 Borges

Nuno Borges comes through, securing the hold with a cross-court volley - for a brief moment I thought he'd overcooked into the tramlines but his placement was excellent.

  11. 'Scoreline a little harsh'published at 13:43 BST

I think 6-1 is a little harsh with Kessler's play. That will be really deflating

If Kessler was to rate her performance, she would probably give it a pretty high score, so where does she go from here?

  12. Second deucepublished at 13:43 BST

    Sinner 0-0 Borges*

Not this time for Jannik Sinner, either, as Nuno Borges comes up with another big groundstroke to save break point.

  13. Break point Sinnerpublished at 13:42 BST

    Sinner 0-0 Borges*

Nuno Borges is going to have to save another. Jannik Sinner is sliding (intentionally) around the baseline, showing no nerves after his heavy fall the other day.

Watching Aryna Sabalenka serve out sets and matches can be, er, fraught sometimes.

That was impressive, though. Big serves when needed and a lovely bit of touch at the net to end it.

McCartney Kessler has, not surprisingly, headed off court for a bit of a reset after that set flew away from her.

  15. Game and first set Sabalenkapublished at 13:41 BST

    Sabalenka 6-1 0-0 Kessler*

Aryna Sabalenka rolls her eyes as a forehand finds the net.

Even playing as well as she has today, Sabalenka always feels there is room for improvement.

The game goes to deuce and the top seed brings up a second set point before taking it with a fine volley at the net.

    Sinner 0-0 Borges*

Good recovery from Nuno Borges. He sees off both break points with little fanfare, unfurling a cross-court forehand winner on the second with Jannik Sinner flat-footed.

  17. Break points Sinnerpublished at 13:40 BST

    Sinner 0-0 Borges*

Nuno Borges gets proceedings on Centre Court under way with an ace.

But he follows it with a couple of loose groundstrokes either side of a helpful net cord for Jannik Sinner. 15-40.

  18. First-round match 'exactly what Sinner needed'published at 13:38 BST

    Sinner v Borges

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Nuno Borges is a very good all-round player. He doesn't have a massive anything in his game, but he hits the ball well and hard. He is tough to play against.

Jannik Sinner really needed a tough match to get into form, but maybe his first round was a little bit too tough. He was a bit short on playing practice on the grass but, assuming he has pulled up OK, it was exactly what he needed.

I expect a better performance from him today after being a bit patchy in the first round. I'm curious to see how he goes here.

  19. 'Why she has been dominating'published at 13:38 BST

    *Sabalenka 5-1 Kessler

    Marion Bartoli
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Two

It is why she has been dominating women's tennis.

When she plays the top players, they are capable of bringing some power as well, but when it is so relentless for so long, it takes a lot of energy from the other player to overcome that.

You have to have constant energy and tension in your body to resist her pace and send it back constantly.

  20. Postpublished at 13:36 BST

    Sinner v Borges

Jannik Sinner and Nuno Borges have only met once on the ATP Tour, back in 2022.

Sinner won their second-round encounter at the Sofia Open in straight sets.

Borges has two career wins over top-10 players, most recently beating Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Australian Open. Sinner has never lost in the second round at Wimbledon.
