    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

He Guoqiang is not putting Ronnie O'Sullivan under any pressure at the moment. He's potting some good balls but he's not stringing anything together.

The only way to put pressure on top players like Ronnie is to score when you get your chances. If you don't do that, this match is going to get ugly very quickly.

  2. O'Sullivan goes three uppublished at 15:27 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 3-0 He

He Guoqiang fouls with a push shot on the green and leaves Ronnie O'Sullivan with a free ball and he duly pots the brown.

With five colours left O'Sullivan pots the green and brilliantly knocks the pink off the cushion to boot.

The Rocket sink the brown then slams in the blue before sealing it with the pink into the middle pocket.

A stunning display from young Chinese sensation Wu Yize.

He's destroyed compatriot Lei Peifan to win with more than a mini-session to spare.

A 116 break completes the demolition job in style and he will meet Mark Selby or Jak Jones in round two.

Two centuries and three 80-plus breaks in a commanding triumph.

    O'Sullivan 2-0 He

He Guoqiang can see enough of the final red left by Ronnie O'Sullivan's safety, and superbly arrows it into the corner pocket.

He sets to work on the colours but with the green on the cushion he has to play safe and rolls the cue ball behind the black.

The Rocket, however, plays a deft escape shot.

  5. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 2-0 He

He Guoqiang edges himself along to 41 - including a fine brown in the middle pocket - during a slightly more scrappy frame.

A break of 30 takes Ronnie O'Sullivan within striking distance but with a solitary red left he opts to play safe.

There's a reason why they call Ronnie O'Sullivan 'The Rocket'. His potting so far today has been brilliant. That's why he's a seven-time world champion and could win his eighth world title, should he go all the way.

    Luke, Sheffield

Calling it now - Ronnie will win his eighth title this year. Why? Because I decided not to get tickets this year!

Ronnie O'Sullivan is here to win this tournament with the way he is playing at the moment. He's showing his opponent some respect.

  8. Postpublished at 15:16 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 2-0 He

He Guoqiang is able to nudge himself up to 35 before allowing Ronnie O'Sulivan back to the table, but there's not much on. The Rocket seems content to stay patient during a safety exchange, though.

  9. Postpublished at 15:11 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 2-0 He

A break of 25 from He Guoqiang, who is sporting a black glove incidentally, at the start of the third frame but he's forced to play a safety shot after leaving himself short on the pack.

He gets another chance, though, after a brief safety exchange.

  10. Wu one frame from victorypublished at 15:08 BST 21 April

    Wu 9-2 Lei

In the other match this afternoon, Lei Peifan started well by winning the first frame.

But compatriot Wu Yize's break of 68 in the next frame helped him to a 80-14 win which has left him one frame away from reaching the second round.

He Guoqiang looks like the one who has skipped some tournaments, not Ronnie. Every shot is pure class.

  12. O'Sullivan wins second framepublished at 15:04 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 2-0 He

Ronnie O'Sullivan clears the table with a break of 97.

He's helped by a fortuitous yellow which rebounds back into the middle pocket, but an impressive frame nonetheless from the Rocket.

    O'Sullivan 1-0 He

    Dennis Taylor

Ronnie O'Sullivan has made a couple of errors in this frame but he hasn't been punished for them.

    O'Sullivan 1-0 He

A stylish pink into the middle pocket gives Ronnie O'Sullivan a break of 35 and takes him to 75 as he closes in on the second frame.

    Ken Doherty

He Guoqiang probably looks up to someone like Ronnie O'Sullivan as a hero, but he has to put that out of his mind when he's playing him. Easier said than done of course.

  16. Postpublished at 14:59 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 1-0 He

Ronnie O'Sullivan's long game looks in good order.

A foul by He Guoqiang as he inadvertently knocks in the brown leaves the cue ball up the table and O'Sullivan pots it with a mixture of power and precision.

O'Sullivan bungles a safety but He cannot get himself into the frame.

There just isn’t a soul among us who can look the way Ronine O’Sullivan does when he’s flowing in the balls. Magic, just magic.

    O'Sullivan 1-0 He

Frame two and Ronnie O'Sullivan slams in a long pot left on by He Guoqiang.

It allows the 50-year-old to start working the reds on the edge of the pack as he makes a break of 21.

There's a brief pause while the pink is spotted behind the pack, and it breaks O'Sullivan's concentration as he misses a red into the corner pocket.

China's He cannot take advantage, though.

  19. 'Rusty Ron' takes openerpublished at 14:52 BST 21 April

    O'Sullivan 1-0 He

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump both did not appear at the media day on Friday and were the only two out of the 16 seeds to not be there.

So it was very interesting to see O'Sullivan's interview with BBC TV. He said: "Happy to be here playing and still enjoying a bit of snooker. I played really not great for three years and a lot of players were right when they said I was very, very poor and I agree with that.

"I decided I have got to find a new method and I couldn't go back to the previous one as I forgot what that was and I can't replicate that so I have to find a new way of playing. It seems to be OK, not brilliant but better than it was before.

"It's just a new way of approaching the shot, taking the cue away. It doesn't feel correct but sounded OK, but sometimes I don't know where the balls are going to go.

"A lot of people will say I'm rusty, that's why I said 'Rusty Ron', I'm quite happy being called that. It doesn't take me a lot of practice and I don't need to play a lot of tournaments to win and play well. I can play minimal and practice minimal and still feel I should be able to win."

Despite heading to table two when he is on table one, a frame-winning break of 72 in the opener is a good way for O'Sullivan to shake off some of that 'rust'.

Ronnie could have five years off without picking up a cue and put him in among the pink, black and reds and he'll still score. If He Guoqiang keeps dropping him in among the reds he's going to get destroyed because he's always going to score. He's a machine when he gets there.
