Match play is where John Higgins has always excelled. I’ve seen him play many times over many years and he plays the kind of snooker that I enjoy.

John Higgins is one of the fiercest competitors there's ever been in snooker. He's like a cat - he has so many lives it's unbelievable. You fancy Judd Trump has got more of a miss in him than John.

John Higgins forces an 11th-frame decider!

Needing to win the frame to stay in the match the veteran Scot peels off a superb break of 70. Judd Trump needs three snookers but decides to continue.

With one red remaining Higgins fluffs a two-cushion escape from a snooker. Moments later Higgins is up near the top of the table and misses the red again.

There's a tit-for-tat exchange on the final red before Higgins sinks it with a stunning double and follows up by potting the pink. This time Trump concedes the frame.
