There was a little bit of concentration lacking for Wu Yize in that second frame. He was so good in the first frame and it could have been 2-0. It was small fractions but they make the difference.

  2. Wilson draws levelpublished at 19:56 GMT 17 January

    Wu 1-1 Wilson

A less-than-fluent frame from both Wu Yize and Kyren Wilson after multiple visits to the table but it's the Englishman who squares up the match.

Wilson's break of 27 takes him down to the colours and he pots all but the pink and the black to to seal the frame.

What a performance. That was a superb break from Wu Yize. In the early rounds he made it look very easy and who is to say he won't breeze through to the final as well.

Wu Yize bags the first frame with a confident start.

Kyren Wilson makes a break of 20 before missing a fairly straightforward red, prompting gasps from the Ally Pally crowd.

Wu is able to take advantage as he peels off a slick break of 75 before missing the brown. He's done enough, though, as Wilson concedes.

    "Wuuuuu!" cry the fans.

Seven-time world champion on BBC One

Kyren Wilson was magnificent to win his quarter-final match to reach the semis. He showed some real character and resilience against Neil Robertson.

Judd should be furious with himself. He threw that away from 3-0. I'm not sure he'll ever win as many triple crown events as he should.

That is why we love snooker. Final-frame decider, then John Higgins doing what he does. Class Of 92 never fails to entertain.

The Class of '92 players are, to some degree, on borrowed time. So every time they put in a performance like John Higgins did we should celebrate it. Because it won't be forever.

Phew. What a thrilling semi-final that was. Never ever write off John Higgins.

If the second semi between Wu Yize and Kyren Wilson is even half as good as that it will be worth watching.

1991 world champion on BBC Two

Legend is bandied around in sport far too often but John Higgins is one. He tries his leg off. 5-3 down in two matches against the world's best and he's in the final. The cue ball play in that final frame, under pressure, was superb.

He'll now be looking to be the oldest triple crown winner. He'll be ready to play tomorrow.

  16. 'Maybe my name is the on trophy?'published at 18:04 GMT 17 January

John Higgins on BBC Two: "He [Judd Trump] is so tough to play against. I missed a couple of reds to put myself safe and then he did what he always does which is clear up. Even at 5-3 I didn't give up. It was the same against Zhao Xintong. Who knows, maybe my name is the the trophy? You just don't know.

"I think I'm a better player now than I've ever been. You play these great champions like Judd and I've lost the last few against him. At the start of the match he should maybe have been 4-0 in front and I maybe made it too easy for him. The fourth frame was massive because 4-0 it's done, but 3-1 I had hope."

John Higgins is "asked how on earth did you just do that" and responds: "I don't know!"

    John Virgo
1979 UK Championship winner on BBC Two

John Higgins with an amazing performance. To reach the final by beating the reigning world champion and then put the world number one to sword is incredible.

Judd Trump will be very disappointed and he is still to win a tournament this season but John Higgins you can see what it means to him. He was always on the back foot but he fought, fought and fought.
