  1. Wu one frame away from finalpublished at 22:35 GMT 17 January

Pure silk from Wu Yize. Initially at least. The 22-year-old from China seems to have the baize firmly under his control with a stylish break of 58. It's a shock when he actually misses a simple red into a corner pocket.

The remainder of the frame is a bit of mess as both players make errors but Kyren Wilson cannot get himself back into contention on an awkward table.

Wu gets a bit of a fluke with treble on a red into the middle pocket and manages to get himself over the line.

He needs one more frame to reach the Masters final.

I love Wu Yize's movement round the table. I know he's won a ranking tournament but this might be the biggest match of his life and it doesn't look like it's showing.

The way he's come back into this match is fantastic. He looks a big-time player.

A couple of frames reeled off quickly by Wu Yize and he's back on level terms and looking very strong indeed. Wu rammed in a great opener and got on top.

He's dangerous. There's no guarantee he wins this match but we are going to see plenty of him in the future. He has a great temperament and is not fazed at all.

  4. Wu fights back to draw levelpublished at 22:05 GMT 17 January

Wu Yize has come absolutely roaring back into this contest.

A dizzying blur of red-black-red-black and an unanswered break of 87 - the highest of the match so far - gives him a second consecutive frame.

Back to all square in this best-of-11 contest. Is this semi-final also going to go the distance?

Kyren Wilson will be disappointed to miss a simple red to let Wu Yize back in because he was really getting on top. It was a straightforward pot. But how good was Wu to take his chance?

An absolute fantastic visit from Wu Yize. Just when he needed it most.

'Wuuuuu' go the cheers from the crowd at the Ally Pally after Wu Yize wraps up the seventh frame in his favour.

A break of 75 from Wu helps him reduce the deficit to one frame.

This match is not over yet. Not by a long shot.

Kyren Wilson has got the bit between his teeth now and you can see him stepping up and going through the gears. He's confident and positive at the moment.

Wu Yize hasn't been playing well enough to put Kyren Wilson under pressure. As a result Kyren has enough breathing space to settle down here.

  10. Wilson goes two frames clearpublished at 21:31 GMT 17 January

Wu Yize makes a break of 24 before missing an awkward red into the middle bag.

Kyren Wilson makes him pay as he rattles off a break of 74 in no time at all to give himself a two-frame cushion.

That was a good effort from Kyren Wilson. That will settle him down nicely.

That's more like it from Kyren Wilson. A very impressive break with very good cue-ball control.

    Wu 2-3 Wilson

Wilson restores lead against Wu in fifth frame

A purposeful and fluent frame from Kyren Wilson whose opening break of 72 to zero after the interval is enough to secure the frame.

Will the world number two start to go through the gears now?

All of a sudden Kyren Wilson is not firing all on cylinders so it's getting pretty tense out there. The semi-final is the match where it all gets a little jangly.

Like a lot of matches it's not how you start off it's how you do at the business end. It remains to be seen who does that in this match.

  15. All square at the intervalpublished at 20:47 GMT 17 January

    Wu 2-2 Wilson

    Media caption,

Wu takes fourth frame to draw level with Wilson

Much more like it from Wu Yize, who shows excellent control of the cue-ball en route to a a fine break of 69 in the fourth frame.

Kyren Wilson is 52 behind and with 43 remaining on the table decides its worth attempting a few snookers to test his opponent from China rather than just concede the frame.

With one red remaining Wu misses to allow Wilson a chance. But the Englishman is unable to get his angles right in the next couple of visits and Wu closes out the frame.

The scores at level heading into the mid-session interval.

Why can't the ref tell the spectators to stop making Woo ing noises at the snooker player. It is not a pub match. It's the Masters so have some respect to the young Chinese player. Shame on you Brits.

The Fun Police arrives in the form of Davis, Doherty and Parrott to complain about the "Wuu" cheers in the crowd. It's great and more of it please!

It's been very nervy indeed. They've both had chances. This kind of snooker is fascinating to watch. This is the first time Wu Yize has gone through a sticky patch so it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

Kyren Wilson is playing a semi-final debutante he is expected to beat. Even though Wu Yize has been playing wonderful snooker, Wilson is the heavy favourite. Sometimes if you don't start off on the right foot there's nervousness because of the big expectation. That might be playing on his mind.

  19. Wilson edges aheadpublished at 20:24 GMT 17 January

    Wu 1-2 Wilson

    Media caption,

Wilson capitalises on Wu misses to take third frame

Another scrappy frame from both Wu Yize and Kyren Wilson which the latter eventually manages to grind out in his favour.

Wilson had a 21-point lead with 27 left on the table but a poor safety shot on the yellow opens the door to Wu.

The Chinese player fluffs cutting the blue into the middle pocket - before subsequently potting it after some safety play - but when he misses a long pink it hands Wilson the frame.

Kyren Wilson hits the ball firmly and that ensures you hit positively. It's not a bad policy to do that because you feel the arm going and it gives you confidence.
