It will be good to see the young man Wu win it. Nerves clearly playing a part but we have witnessed some exceptional shots. Let's hope there isn't a third interruption. Mobile phones should be banned.

Shaun has done exactly what he wanted to do and he has started like a train. Shaun is making sure Wu is not coming back to the table.

  5. Break of 76 from Murphy to close gap to onepublished at 14:03 BST 4 May

    Murphy 9-10 Wu (76-9, Murphy 76)

This is a perfect start to Shaun Murphy's day. Two frames played, two frames won. A break of 76, after starting with a superb two-ball plant, gets Murphy another one. He needed a good session and he is now only one behind.

A tough, table-length two-ball plant gets Murphy up and running in frame 19 and he's on the green so a chance to cause some damage, 4-9.

If Shaun Murphy can call on his greater experience and play some nasty snookers, he's still got a great chance.

  8. Wu needs a 'few points to settle him down'published at 13:55 BST 4 May

    John Parrott

He had an easy way out of it [the snooker in frame 18], but he didn’t want to swerve the cue ball. It was an absolute sitter. A top class professional is going to hit that every day of the week, but he just didn't want to hit in a certain way.

But when you start missing, the cloth’s new, the ball starts sliding, the crowd gets involved and when you’re missing it all adds to the situation. All he needs is a decent chance in the next one, and start scoring a few points to settle him down.

Shaun has done remarkably well to win that frame. He had a terrible run of the balls in that.

This is the biggest day of Wu Yize’s life, and he would have woken up this morning with a great lead, and this would have been a horrible time for him from breakfast until now. It’s the worst time as a snooker player because you just want to start.

  12. 'Frames like that can get you out of rhythm'published at 13:48 BST 4 May

    Murphy 8-10 Wu

For Wu, he wouldn't have played many frames like that in this championship. They can really put you out of your stride with all these misses. Frames like that can get you out of rhythm and it was very important for Shaun to win, Wu looked a bit nervous.

Shaun Murphy would've loved to win the frame that way and he knows the importance of winning these scrappy frames to try to put pressure on the young man's shoulders.

  13. Murphy wins first frame of Mondaypublished at 13:45 BST 4 May

    Murphy 8-10 Wu (103-37)

The frame took over half an hour, but Shaun Murphy won't mind one bit. That tricky snooker, which earned the Englishman 25 points in fouls, helps him get one on the board to close the deficit to two.

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Attempt four failed, as did attempt five for Wu to get out of this snooker. This has cost Wu 25 points in fouls, before he nudges the red at his sixth go. Murphy 72-37 ahead, one red left.

  15. Postpublished at 13:37 BST 4 May

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

After Wu misses a red, Murphy sticks him in a snooker behind the pink, close to the side cushion. Wu is trying to come off the baulk cushion and spin the cue ball off into the direction of the last red.

Three times he tries and misses, not getting anywhere near it to give Murphy 12 points. He opts for the side cushion escape and then clatters into the blue for another five. Murphy 64-37 ahead in this frame.

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Shaun Murphy is known as the Magician but Wu produces some trickery himself with a perfectly weighted one-cushion escape with the cue ball passing through the tight gap left by blue and black. A wonderful shot, to also then nudge the red safe. Top work.

  17. Postpublished at 13:30 BST 4 May

    Murphy 7-10 Wu

Shaun Murphy nudges the lead up by one and then sticks the cue ball behind the brown, with the one remaining red stuck near the middle of the table, surrounded by the blue and black and also with the yellow and green blocking the escape route. Tricky.

Wu is fearless and it seems nowhere on the table is safe. Shaun burst onto the scene known for his long pots... we need to see him find that again today if he has any chance of a comeback.

Nothing better than a Bank Holiday Monday in May with the World Snooker Championship final. Shaun Murphy needs a fast start and has to win this session to have a chance. As for Wu Yize, just a magical fairytale run from a special talent! 18-17 enthralling final please?

Everyone has a slightly different take on how things may pan out today but Metro snooker reporter Phil Haigh has been consistent from the off, after tipping Shaun Murphy to end his 21-year wait for a second world title before the tournament started.

"The last frame on Sunday night would have been very dispiriting for Shaun Murphy playing a good safety only to see Wu knock in an outrageous long red," he said.

"But I do think Peter Ebdon's influence will be key in stopping him from panicking. I think there will be a point where this match is level again and it will then be a case of who can hold their nerve from there.

"I backed Shaun from the start so I am going to stick with him."
