  1. Hawkins levelspublished at 20:12 GMT 5 December 2025

    Selby 1-1 Hawkins

Can you explain why the black wasn’t played for after Anda put the white in?

    Tony

It is sometimes assumed that play continues after a foul on the black if there are fewer than seven points between the scores. That is not the case. Tthe player who is in the lead after the foul, when only the black is remaining, becomes the winner.

  3. Murphy extends his leadpublished at 19:52 GMT 5 December 2025

    Murphy 2-0 Zhang

Shaun Murphy looks in the mood in the second frame, knocking in a break of 88 which is his second highest of the Championship so far.

    Murphy 1-0 Zhang

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

It's an amateurish error from Zhang. A professional should not miss those. It is a calamitous way to lose the first frame. It has got to affect you losing a frame like that.

  5. Zhang throws away opening framepublished at 19:42 GMT 5 December 2025

    Murphy 1-0 Zhang

Shaun Murphy takes the first frame but just how did that happen?

Zhang Anda breaks down on 65 with the frame seemingly in the bag, but can't hit a snooker and then goes in off on the black.

  6. Selby edges aheadpublished at 19:32 GMT 5 December 2025

    Selby 1-0 Hawkins

Mark Selby takes the opening frame against his good friend Barry Hawkins.

A break of 64 gets him over the line albeit it was a fairly scrappy opening.

    Selby v Hawkins

Judd Trump joked earlier that Mark Selby is the favourite for the UK Championship this year.

But given the four-time world champion recently won the Champion of Champions and is looking somewhere close to his best he is a pretty decent shout.

Intriguingly Selby and Hawkins, who was the beaten finalist 12 months ago have faced each other on 38 occasions and both have won 19 times.

    Murphy v Zhang

Head to HeadImage source, BBC Sport

Shaun Murphy fought his way back from 4-1 and 5-3 behind to edge John Higgins in a thriller on Thursday night.

In the process he spoiled Zhang Anda's wish to play his boyhood hero this evening. Zhang produced an equally impressive performance to see off reigning world champion Zhao Xintong yesterday, so this could be a classic.

  10. Seventh frame could make a quiz question - Robertsonpublished at 17:22 GMT 5 December 2025

Neil Robertson has just compared the extraordinary situation as being like something that would feature on a sports quiz in the future.

"Once I stopped laughing inside at what happened at 5-1, that is the thing that would be on a quiz of what happened next." Robertson said.

"You could never even try to do that again. It is a one in 10 million chance of happening. I was brilliant to get to 5-1. That break there would be one of the breaks of the tournament [from Pang].

"It was one of those crazy things."

Ding really has handed this to trump on a plate fabulous player Ding but really lacks mental strength to truly compete at highest level every time he loses a frame or 2 his head goes down his opponents must go fight in got him if he could sort that out he's a world champion in the making.

But he gets a snooker, seven points for Neil Robertson hitting the black and the bonus of a free ball and completes a remarkable clearance of 51.

    Trump 4-2 Ding

It is clinical stuff. Judd Trump is doing a job on Ding. He is very much in control. He is great break builder and is very accurate.
