    Dennis Taylor
1985 world champion on BBC Two

Allen has pulled off a couple of cracking pots in these last two visits. This will give him a three frame advantage again.

Both players are pretty good under pressure but Mark Allen? Exceptional.

  2. Postpublished at 12:02 BST 25 April

    Wilson 9-11 Allen

Kyren Wilson and Mark Allen are deep into their 21st frame after returning from the mid-session interval.

Allen currently well on top with the scoring but it's a very defensive battle as it stands.

The Northern Irishman slowly edging his way towards the win, though.

  3. Robertson extends lead into mid-session intervalpublished at 11:48 BST 25 April

    Wakelin 1-3 Robertson

Outstanding cueing from Neil Robertson who punishes Chris Wakelin to the maximum in that frame.

Wakelin looked for all the world like he would clear up until missing a very cheap red.

Robertson gets on the table and cleans up with a break of 59.

He didn't make it easy though. The Australian needed outstanding shots on both the green and pink on his way.

After a hard day at work, sometimes you just want to go out with your mates, watch some football and eat some bad food.

Well, that's what Mark Allen did last Saturday after he suffered a tough opening first session, trailing 5-3 against Zhang Anda.

It did the trick as Allen, who had not made a 50 break in session one, looked a new player on Sunday, winning seven of eight frames to seal a 10-6 win, including three centuries.

"I was so frustrated - I've been doing things so well on the practice table, being in the gym and eating well," said Allen afterwards. "I just went out and had a few drinks and a burger.

"I thought, 'I can't play any worse'. I was so down on myself, I didn't want to talk to anyone. So I went out, had a few bets and watched the football with my mates. A bit of bad food, slept really well and played much better."

  5. Robertson takes the leadpublished at 11:30 BST 25 April

    Wakelin 1-2 Robertson

Another frame you'd argue wasn't one for the purists but Neil Robertson won't mind as he takes the lead for the first time.

It ends with Chris Wakelin needing a snooker but in turn hitting the brown himself and gifting the frame to Robertson.

  6. 'The Warrior is fighting'published at 11:28 BST 25 April

    Wilson 9-11 Allen

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Excellent from Kyren. He looks very competitive still. For the second time in this tournament he looks under a bit of pressure but 'The Warrior' is fighting.

It is getting close to the finishing line, anything can happen and Kyren is in touch.

  7. Wilson respondspublished at 11:26 BST 25 April

    Wilson 9-11 Allen

    Kyren Wilson responds again.

A 45 break from the Englishman leaves Mark Allen requiring three snookers. He fails to get one and Wilson clears up with another 44 before trying a left-hander on the black. Less said about that one the better, though!

Off to the mid-session interval in this one.

Kyren Wilson finds himself trailing today by three frames, but he has already shown his fighting spirit in this year's tournament.

In the first round on Monday, Wilson produced a superb fightback from 6-2 and 7-3 down by winning seven frames in a row to deny 19-year-old Stan Moody a memorable victory on his World Championship debut at the Crucible.

"I dug in deeper than deep," said Wilson. "It was really difficult at 7-3 down and you just have to keep going to the well and I won a couple of really big frames.

"I was fighting with a few feelings and you have to dig in and win that scrappy one and see if it can turn around. Stan has not got the experience I have got, especially here and I knew coming into the evening the adrenaline would seep out.

"Stan has been a credit, especially to the younger generation. My kids know his name - he is inspiring them and they are going to the same junior tournaments he was playing in."

  9. Postpublished at 11:12 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-11 Allen

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

A good 60 break from Allen. He didn't win it in one visit but good enough to mop up the tears after Kyren missed that pink - a very gettable pink.

  10. Allen opens up three frame advantagepublished at 11:10 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-11 Allen

Kyren Wilson concedes the frame after spending the last 15 minutes or so trying to snooker Mark Allen.

After setting up the brown right on the pocket, Wilson turns to Allen with a smile on his face as if to say "you win."

Great spirit on display with plenty on the line.

  11. Robertson levels things uppublished at 11:07 BST 25 April

    Wakelin 1-1 Robertson

A much quicker second frame and a much better effort from Neil Robertson.

With Robertson leading by 70, Chris Wakelin misses a good opportunity on the red and in turn concedes.

    All square.

  12. Robertson's first-round miscalculationpublished at 10:57 BST 25 April

    Wakelin 1-0 Robertson

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

There was a bizarre - and costly - moment in Neil Robertson's first round match against China's Pang Junxu.

Robertson, the 2010 world champion and world number three, led 1-0, but then conceded the second frame before it was out of reach.

He had missed a black and then conceded with the score at 10-57 to the Chinese player. Robertson was 47 points behind but, with three reds on the table, 51 points were still achievable.

Conceding a frame when you can still mathematically win is not allowed so referee Terry Camilleri then warned Robertson, with the Australian saying he thought he had been 57 points behind.

When the score was explained to him, Robertson said "ah, I miscalculated the score, sorry".

The incident will still cost him a mandatory £250 fine, although he has earned at least £30,000 following his first-round victory,

  14. Wakelin edges scrappy first framepublished at 10:49 BST 25 April

    Wakelin 1-0 Robertson

Chris Wakelin takes the first frame but Neil Robertson will be absolutely kicking himself.

The Australian had a commanding lead but an untidy miscue allowed Wakelin in for a break of 47.

Robertson did have a chance to return but it turned into an absolute safety-shot-fest towards the back end, to which the Englishman comes out on top.

Just over 40 minutes, that one.

  15. 'What a response'published at 10:41 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-10 Allen

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

What a response. He has been looking over his shoulder a bit at Kyren and thinking he had his work cut out but he is playing competitively Mark Allen, as you'd expect.

  16. Allen restores two frame advantagepublished at 10:38 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-10 Allen

Mark Allen hits back and restores his two frame advantage with a 78 break of his own.

A slight mistake from Kyren Wilson let the Northern Irishman in and he made no mistake.

If anything is to take from the opening of this one, mistakes will be punished.

If one misses, the other will hit.

  17. Wakelin aims to prove Hendry wrongpublished at 10:30 BST 25 April

Following his victory over Liam Pullen, world number 13 Chris Wakelin said he was playing with a point to prove, singling out seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry as someone who criticises him.

"Someone who doesn't rate me at all is Stephen Hendry," said Wakelin, "Every single players' event, whenever I'm playing a match on TV he always says the other guy is going to win. I laugh about it every time and it gives me a lot of pleasure to just go out there and do my thing.

"He obviously doesn't rate me at all because I'm not world number one or world champion in the past, but it's my job to go out there and focus on my game. You're always going to have critics in this sport as you do in every sport so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

"Even on his You Tube [channel] the other day, which I'm a big fan of and watch it every week, he said he fancied Liam Pullen to beat me, and in the next breath he said 'I've never seen him play before'.

"I've got a massive amount of respect for anyone who's ever won a tournament in this game, it's so difficult. Stephen being a seven-time world champion, I've got nothing but admiration for the guy but he clearly doesn't think I'm any good."

  18. 'You can tell Wilson now trusts his equipment'published at 10:23 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-9 Allen

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

When he [Kyren Wilson] hits the ball he absolutely belts the life out of it.

You have got to trust your equipment and now you can tell, he trusts it.

  19. Wilson lands first frame of the daypublished at 10:21 BST 25 April

    Wilson 8-9 Allen

What a start from Kyren Wilson. That was cool and calm as you like from the Englishman.

A 78 break to start the day and he cuts Mark Allen's lead to one frame.

He misses a long red on his hunt for a century but that won't matter. The frame is on the board.

This one is already meeting the expectations.
