There was a downpour on the Friday before the tournament just after the players had lined up for the team picture on media day, but since then the weather in Sheffield has been lovely.

And today is the same. There are deckchairs in Tudor Square to watch the action from on a big screen, and also this oversized deckchair, perfect for some social media pictures, if you can then successfully haul yourself back out of it, of course.

    This already looks incredibly ominous.

  3. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 26 April

    Zhao 12-9 Ding

Big, big chance for Zhao Xintong to finish the job here.

Cuts in a delicate mid-distance red and the table looks incredibly inviting with black available and reds nicely spread.

At the moment, it has to be said and, dare I be the one to say it, but if Ronnie plays like he did in the first session against John Higgins then I think he may be in with a massive shout.

  5. Wu ahead for first timepublished at 12:21 BST 26 April

    Selby 2-3 Wu

    Wu Yize out-Selbys Mark Selby.

Lays a horrible snooker on the final red behind the green - and after Selby misses a tough escape, the 10th seed clears up to go ahead for the first time in this match.

Some response from the Chinese youngster from 2-0 down.

Zhao Xintong looked so calm in that break, it was wonderfully constructed.

  7. Ton moves Zhao frame from victorypublished at 12:17 BST 26 April

    Zhao 12-9 Ding

Zhao Xintong capitalises on that lapse from Ding Junhui to almost effortlessly clear the table with a sublime 108 break.

He's one frame away from a return to the quarter-finals. Crucible curse? What Crucible curse?

  8. Watch: Wu punishes Selby misspublished at 12:15 BST 26 April

    Selby 2-2 Wu

Here's how Wu Yize pinched the final frame before the interval on Table Two.

He has a chance to take frame five too, at the table with most of the reds at his mercy.

Slightly strange moment as Ding Junhui twice gets up off his shot, pinching the bridge of his nose and forehead.

Kinda what you do when you have a headache.

He has a literal headache as well after missing the long red badly and leaving Zhao Xintong again. This should be end of frame.

  10. Postpublished at 12:09 BST 26 April

    Zhao 11-9 Ding

Now then. Huge error from Ding Junhui, who accidentally clips the black instead of the red in playing a safety.

Not only does he given away seven points for a foul, he's left a great chance for Zhao Xintong...

But the defending champion is unable to truly punish the error, running out of position after amassing 22.

Really enjoying listening to Gary Wilson sitting alongside Ken. It has been a great addition the past couple of days, but I’m just hoping he makes his holiday on time tomorrow!

  12. Back on the baizepublished at 12:06 BST 26 April

Zhao 11-9 Ding; Selby 2-2 Wu

All four players are back out after the mid-session interval.

Four more frames to be played in Mark Selby and Wu Yize's first session.

A maximum of five - and minimum of two - left in the third and final session between Ding Junhui and Zhao Xintong.

  13. Snooker's very own marathonpublished at 11:55 BST 26 April

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

The snooker and stats remained on the four main screens at the front of the press room, but the journalists and media team were then huddled around a laptop watching the end of the history-making London Marathon.

Sabastian Sawe breaking the marathon world record, to become the first to ever run it in under two hours in a race, immediately followed by second-placed Yomif Kejelcha also going sub-two hours, was greeted with great enthusiasm and a few cheers.

Meanwhile, we are on day nine of 17 in snooker's very own marathon.

There was a 46-minute opening frame of the session on table one, with Ding Junhui pulling it back to 9-8 against Zhao Xintong.

However, Zhao then won the next two, including snatching the 19th frame 69-60. But Ding has taken the next to pull within two again.

Wu Yize and Mark Selby could be a very close one and that's at 2-2. No frames will be started after 14:00 BST so anything not done by then will happen tonight.

  14. 'Ding sticking in there'published at 11:52 BST 26 April

    Zhao 11-9 Ding

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Hats off to Ding - he's sticking in there, even though he's not playing at his best.

That's sometimes all you have to do. If he had lost that frame, the match was over.

He's still go to win four of the last five frames but at least he's given himself a chance.

  15. Ding hits 76 to cut gap to two againpublished at 11:50 BST 26 April

    Zhao 11-9 Ding

Heck of a response from Ding Junhui who calls on all his class and experience to put the disappointment of the previous frame behind him.

Knocks in a long red to get himself and composes a wonderfully crafted 76 break to once again cut his deficit to two frames.

A surprising missed black denies him a century but he keeps Zhao Xintong away from the finishing line - the reigning champion still needs two frames to see off his senior compatriot.

The two Chinese players have shared the opening four frames this morning - Zhao will be happy if that pattern continues but this match is far from over.

    Stats
  16. Wu level with Selby at intervalpublished at 11:45 BST 26 April

    Selby 2-2 Wu

A big moment on Table Two as well - albeit much earlier in the match.

Mark Selby reacts angrily after missing the final red with the scores almost level.

The error hands Wu Yize the clearance on a plate.

Selby began the match like an express train with back-to-back centuries but Wu has battled back well.

The stats suggest Selby has been dominant - but Wu taking that close fourth frame means it's level pegging at the interval.

  17. 'Cardinal sin'published at 11:40 BST 26 April

    Zhao 11-8 Ding

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

It's a cardinal sin - the most important thing is getting that brown ball safe, you cannot be short and leave half a chance for your opponent.

  18. Zhao pinches frame to go three aheadpublished at 11:37 BST 26 April

    Zhao 11-8 Ding

What a big moment that could be in this match.

The brown is tight on the baulk cushion and Ding Junhui cannot get position on it off the green so he opts for a safety.

But it's a poor safety - leaving Zhao Xintong a tempting cut on a long brown, which he nails and mops up the mini-clearance, cool as you like. 11-8 instead of 10-9 - massive.

  19. Frames in balance on both tablespublished at 11:30 BST 26 April

Chances for counter-clearances on both tables at the moment.

Zhao Xintong jawed a red when 47 ahead, allowing Ding Junhui, 10-8 down, a chance to get back into this pivotal 19th frame.

Wu Yize, 2-1 behind, nudges a couple points ahead of Mark Selby on the other side of the divider after a brilliant pink and an even better doubled red - but the final couple of reds are trickily positioned...
