1991 world champion on BBC Two

If you're not getting punished when you're making your mistakes, that tells you that your opponent is struggling a little bit.

I never like to count John Higgins out of it but he's got to find something from somewhere - he's got to find a period of concentration where there's no glitches because, at the moment, if he carries on like he is there's only one winner.

Can John Higgins take the shackles off and think clearly again? That's what he needs to do if he's going to get anything out of this match now.

Both players were a bit unlucky in that last frame. Kyren Wilson must feel he has a bit more breathing space.

I think Kyren Wilson is trying to throw this title away gifting John Higgins these chances to win.

Kyren Wilson misses an ambitious brown to the right middle but John Higgins then fluffs a much easier pink.

Kyren Wilson's certainly been aggressive with his shot choice.

When he's been at his best is when he's stepped the tempo up and it's looked like he's going to score, and he's walking around the table in a quicker manner.

If he keeps that up he's going to take some beating.

    Higgins 5-7 Wilson

Kyren Wilson with a break of 14 but when he breaks up the pack after pinging the blue into the middle pocket a red trickles into the corner as well. John Higgins back at the table but his safety leaves Wilson a long pot and he takes it.

I can only put that error down to the pressure of the situation.

It feels like even though Kyren Wilson hasn't been great here he's going to get over the finishing line here. You can sense it occurring because John Higgins doesn't seem to be able to up his game enough. He needs to make a big jump up.

Kyren is the player at the interval who seems to have enough in the tank. If it goes down to the wire he has got that bit extra.

John Higgins and Kyren Wilson back out to the table at the Ally Pally. Lots of boisterous encouragement from the crowd.

    Wilson to break.

  16. 'Higgins needs a team talk'published at 21:15 GMT 18 January

    Higgins 5-7 Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

John Higgins looks a little bit tired around the eyes, it has to be said.

It's been a big, emotional week for him - he's had a rollercoaster to get there.

The other day he had a little team talk from his wife Denise, I think he needs another one here.

    Never ever count him out.

David in Newport: If I was either of the beaten semi-finalists I'd be wondering where these performances were against me yesterday!

Jon in Beverley: Have to feel sorry for Judd Trump, Neil Robertson and Wu Yize because they would all have fancied themselves to win this final. The standard has been disappointing, strewn with errors.

David in London: Errors are the hallmark of a fantastic, nerve-filled final! Such great entertainment watching frames in the balance. Long may it continue!

Lal in the Highlands: Higgins is missing a lot of easy shots. He seems not settled, maybe under a lot pressure. Kyren is far more ahead of Higgins and I think he will win the match.

John Higgins missed a straightforward shot into the corner pocket on the black and that's the difference as you get a bit older. You start to make those really unforced errors which can completely trip you up. You go up the ladder when you win a frame and the next moment you are right back down again.

  19. Wilson two ahead at mid-session intervalpublished at 20:58 GMT 18 January

    Higgins 5-7 Wilson

Ruthless snooker from Kyren Wilson as a break of 49 banks the 12th frame. He is three frames away from the Masters title.

  20. Higgins and Wilson struggle to hold nervepublished at 20:54 GMT 18 January

    Higgins 5-6 Wilson

John Higgins and, in particular, Kyren Wilson might not want to - but if you haven't seen the end of that previous frame it's worth a watch.

And that final three minutes is only half of the drama!
