It's been an old school hard frame this. Sometimes a small break can feel like a century.

When you get two players who are as good as these two tactically you are going to get a frame like this. But they all count.

"This is one for the purists" my colleague Steve Sutcliffe has just remarked.

Kyren Wilson is on 14 points while John Higgins has 36. Wilson pots a long red which draws applause from the crowd, before snookering his opponent behind the yellow near a corner pocket.

Safety play the watchword for both players here.

The reds are scattered across the table which is making for a bit of an untidy frame.

The first frame after the mid-session interval is under way, and it's been a little bit of safety play from both players to start.

Kyren Wilson leaves the cue ball near the pink and John Higgins fouls by going in off into the middle pocket. Wilson unable to capitalise, though, as he rattles the jaws of the pocket with a long pot.

BBC Two's coverage currently giving a montage rundown of the Masters champions from the nineties. In those days the fans were often black tie for the final.

The dress code is a little more relaxed these days.

The scoreline could have been completely different and John Higgins will know that. He's been in prime position in two frames and has not really made enough of it. Kyren Wilson has done a good job of turning the tables after a shakier start. The first questions are now being posed to Higgins.

John Higgins should definitely have capitalised on the chances when he was at the table.

He's just not been inch-perfect with the cue ball - at this level you can't afford to have too many of those.

He's got away with mistakes this week - will he get away with them today, it remains to be seen.

    Stephen Hendry

Kyren Wilson certainly looks a lot more confident, just his general body language around the table.

He's quite intimidating when he's at his best because he stomps around the table, he's got that arrogance when he plays well.
