Ireland captain Caelan Doris speaking to ITV: "We asked for a big performance from some of our senior players and big match players and they stood up, the likes of Tadhg Beirne some of the turnovers he got were crucial. We saw what their attack was capable of last week and again today it came in waves but our defence stood up and big moments helped keep them out.

"There were some calm heads in there which was helped by the fact we had scoreboard pressure throughout from a fast start which we aimed for as well, it felt composed out there and it was good.

"There's unbelievable experience built by this group and showed the competition and depth in the squad, long may it continue.

"It's a rare day as an Irish man to be cheering them (England) on but we have controlled what we can control and now we'll sit back and be cheering them on later on."

Zombie by the Cranberries rings out in Dublin.

It's become the unofficial anthem of this Irish team and it's being sung with gusto as the Ireland players celebrate on the pitch.

More of the same from Scotland. Another Six Nations where we've shown that we're capable of beautiful free-flowing rugby, but lack resolve when it really matters. He's given us some great moments, but the team has reached its ceiling under Toony.

    Chris, Dunfermline

Well well well, Same old Scotland... Play well until it gets to the important games, then fall at the final hurdle. Very much an 'almost team', who celebrate a Calcutta cup like its the actual Six Nations trophy.

    Matteo, London

Well done Ireland, but at 26-21, with 15 minutes to go, a dropped restart was such a critical moment. Score flattered Ireland in the end.

Scotland's players are doing a lap of honour around the pitch as they take in another heartbreaking defeat.

The scoreline doesn't reflect how close that game was, but it wasn't to be for Gregor Townsend's side.

The players are now taking turns at lifting the Triple Crown.

The camera pans on Darragh Murray, who had a huge contribution today on his Ireland debut.

It will be hard to top that as a first cap, to be fair.

Ireland are about to be presented with the Triple Crown in the middle of the pitch at the Aviva Stadium.

Caelan Doris hoists it above his head as fireworks go off behind the Irish team, and a huge roar reverberates around the stadium.

That's a fourth Triple Crown for Ireland in five years. It's hard to argue against that record.

Ireland get away with a lot and if referees let them, they are right to.

Physically we compete against England and France, but for some reason, we cannot against Ireland.

I get the disappointment on behalf of Scotland fans. Being beaten away by an Ireland team who are reasonably tasty is no disgrace though!

    John, Essex

As usual cannot match the Irish endeavour, too many errors, poor handling, be glad when Townsend goes

    Rob, Angus

Scotland peaked a week too early, the France game took it out of them and Ireland know how to get over the line. Townsend has been great but its time for a change to take things to the next level

We’ve just heard from a tournament official about what they are calling “a mission impossible endeavour” regarding the Six Nations trophy.Given there is only one trophy at the moment - a replica of the original which has been damaged - they are going to fly the trophy from Dublin to Paris in between the Ireland v Scotland and France v England matches. It means all three teams who can still win the title - Ireland, Scotland and France - will all see the trophy as they run out to play their decisive games.

What decided this game is what decided the 11 before it - Irish aggression, Irish defence, Tadhg Beirne and Caelan Doris.

They are bigger and stronger, more attritional. The pressure of their defence is a great attacking weapon.

It’s not going to be our year this year but credit to Ireland. They always show this togetherness and rise to the occasion in the big moments. They play intelligent rugby and the brotherhood they have created is something to be admired. Congratulations.
