Early blow for Leinster as Garry Ringrose goes off for what appears a HIA check. Former British and Irish Lion Robbie Henshaw not the worst replacement mind.

It's the Welsh side pressing though as Joe Roberts collects a Joe Hawkins cross-field kick, and now the forwards are hammering away....

Not the dream start for the Scarlets losing the ball away early.

We know how dangerous Leinster are so the Scarlets can't let them in dangerous areas too often.

Leinster straight on the front foot and it's Josh van der Flier to the fore with a series of strong carries.

But the ball goes loose in the 22 and Scarlets scrum-half Dane Blacker is able to clear. The visitors have stood up to the first bout of pressure well.

If you look at Leinster's pack, it is an international pack. I've heard a lot of good things about Brian Deeny.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Scarlets back line do as well. But with the size of Leinster's pack it will be hard for them to score points.

If you are a betting person who studies the form guide, you would have to be a brave punter to back a Scarlets win tonight.

They did topple Leinster at home last season but their only away success in this campaign, in the URC or Europe, came down the road in Cardiff before Christmas.

There was also a draw in Treviso during the Six Nations, but otherwise the Welsh side have endured a wretched time on the road. Their last three trips to Leinster have also seen three defeats and the small matter of 133 points conceded.

However, tonight's venue has been far from all bad memories for fans of the west Wales outfit.

Back in 2017, it played host to Scarlets' finest hour of the past decade, when they beat Munster in the then-named Pro12 Grand Final.

Leo Cullen meanwhile, has insisted there has been no lectures for his squad despite the disappointment of their Scottish trip.

“We come off the last week, we get nothing from the game and everyone has that very hollow feeling," said Cullen.

“A lot of the guys weren’t over there. They’re not necessarily sharing that same feeling but they understand it from a bigger picture point of view. There’s a tonne of experience in the group.

"So yeah, those guys, I don’t need to tell them specifically how to suck eggs, do I?

“It’s just making sure they are able to get control of the group quite quickly. They’re all back aligning together as to how we want to play the game."

Scarlets interim director of rugby Nigel Davies has not exactly downplayed the size of the task for his team tonight.

Instead, he has essentially told them to prepare for Test match intensity.

"We're basically playing an international rugby game in an international venue against pretty much an international rugby team," said Davies.

"I think it's very difficult to look at last week, I'm sure we'll face a slightly different Leinster team. I think they'll have all the internationals and they'll be building up into the following week with a European fixture. They'd be looking to sign off the URC on a positive note and build into that European fixture."

On whether his team should be wary of the Irish side, he added: "In terms of the fear factor, we need the fear factor. We need to be going there with a fear factor within the team to know what they're coming up against."

Glasgow Warriors are looking to solidify their position at the top of the URC against Benetton at Scotstoun this evening.

There is a massive Champions Cup last-16 against the Bulls here next weekend, but Warriors will want to avoid squandering any points against the struggling Italian side tonight.

While everything looks rosy in the Glasgow garden right now, Franco Smith warned this week that his team have been in similarly strong positions in previous seasons but been left with nothing to show for it.

Huw Jones and Sione Tuipulotu return to the starting line-up after Six Nations duty with Scotland and add some experience to a team featuring a number of youngsters.

When you are heading to home of the champions, you could probably do without having 15 players unavailable through injury.

But that is the exact scenario Nigel Davies faces tonight, with skipper Josh Macleod sidelined by a hamstring injury and Wales fly-half Sam Costelow ruled out after rolling his ankle in training.

Davies is also dealing with a hooker shortage following head injury assessments to Marnus van der Merwe and Ryan Elias, and has been forced into five changes from the XV that started against Zebre.

Joe Roberts returns at outside centre as Joe Hawkins takes number 10 jersey - while Dane Blacker stars at scrum-half in place of Archie Hughes. Up front, hooker Harry Thomas is handed a second URC start of the campaign while Dan Davis is the openside flanker in place of Macleod.

Scarlets: Murray; Rogers, J Roberts, Williams, Mee; Hawkins, Blacker; Mathias, Harry Thomas, Holz, Lousi, Douglas, Taylor, Davis, Anderson (capt). Replacements: G Roberts, S O'Connor, Henry Thomas, Ball, T Davies, A Hughes, I Jones, Page.

Few teams find themselves shorter of key personnel that Leinster during an international break - but the post-Six Nations rest period for Leo Cullen's Ireland stars looks officially over.

There are 12 changes to the starting XV from the defeat in Glasgow, with Caelan Doris to captain the side from number eight. He's joined Max Deegan and Josh van der Flier join Doris in the back row.

Other notable selections see Andrew Porter returns for his first appearance since January 3, with Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong alongside him - the same front row they started two test matches for the British and Irish Lions in Australia.

Harry Byrne partners Jamison Gibson-Park at half-back, with Garry Ringrose named in the centre alongside Jamie Osborne, who is making his first Leinster appearance since October. In the back three, Jimmy O’Brien shifts to full-back as Tommy O’Brien comes onto the wing.

Leinster: Jimmy O'Brien; Tommy O'Brien, Ringrose, Osborne, Kenny; Byrne, Gibson-Park; Porter, Sheehan, Furlong, Joe McCarthy, Deeny, Deegan, van der Flier, Doris (capt).

Replacements: Gus McCarthy, Cahir, Slimani, O'Tighearnaigh, Soroka, Gunne, Prendergast, Henshaw

So from the coastal venue of Durban to the fair city of Dublin.

Both these sides returned to URC action last weekend, but with contrasting fortunes. Ireland's Six Nations hangover had a detrimental effect on the reigning URC champions as they fell to a 38-21 defeat in Glasgow.

Scarlets meanwhile, picked up just a fourth league win of the season by notching a 36-17 bonus point success over rock-bottom Zebre.

However, the task looks immeasurably harder for the Welsh side tonight, with their hosts welcoming back their big guns in a bid to reignite their push for a top-four finish.

On that note, let's look how the sides will line-up at the Aviva.

A solitary bonus point from two games suggests a modest return from Cardiff's trip to South Africa but in reality, the displays have been better than the score lines suggest.

Last week it was wasted opportunities and lack of accuracy that cost Corniel van Zyl's side dear. Tonight, it was a ruthless decision from home coach JP Pietersen that turned the tide.

On the 30 minute mark he changed his entire front row and from that point on, the Cardiff set-piece was ragged. Injuries to Cory Domachowski and, yes, Toby Faletau again, are further concerns.

And yet, the visitors created plenty, scored two good tries, made 149 tackles in draining conditions and were in the contest until the final play. The bonus point was deserved.

You sense April will define Cardiff's season. A trip to Benetton comes next in a European Challenge Cup last-16 tie and there are URC derby clashes with Ospreys and Scarlets.

There will be lingering frustration from tonight, but Van Zyl won't permit much time for players to dwell on it.

Anyway, don't go anywhere, we'll soon be bringing you live coverage of Leinster v Scarlets in Dublin.

That last couple minutes sums up Cardiff's game, they did a lot right but ultimately they didn't have a set piece.

Unfortunately that has cost them today. It was a difficult week last week but I think they'll be happy with the performance.

They'll especially be happy with the bonus point. But if you don't have a scrum or a line out your not going to win.
