    France 22-0 Ireland

It's superb defence from Ireland as they legally bring down the French maul, which was starting to get a bit of momentum.

It's the little wins at this point.

France still have the advantage and are now about eight metres out.

Their momentum stalls, so play is brought back.

My pre-match prediction looks sound enough so far! France to cruise this championship to back-to-back Grand Slams, England a close second. Take your pick for the order of the also rans - but Scotland will be confident of getting one over on Ireland at long last.

    John, London

On this showing the Irish have peaked and are now on the downslope of the mountain. As one sided a half as you can get. Lucky it's only 22, even if first try was forward. Disappointing.

    Mike, Neath

Total first half domination from France, difficult to see how Ireland change it. Still feels odd watching Six Nations on a Thursday night, akin to a Champions League football match being a 3pm Saturday kick-off.

    Right, off we go.

Will we see the comeback of all comebacks or will France see this one out?

    Let's go!

Remember, last year's Six Nations came down to bonus points so I'm sure France will want to get the additional point wrapped up as quickly as possible after the restart.

As a Scot, this is the France we feared and admired in the 80s. Fierce, flair, frightening. Great first half.

    Herbert, UK

Poor Ireland, just too dominant from France...sad.

    James, Sussex

Ominous from France. Just so dynamic across the entire XV. Scary thing is they can get better. As for Ireland… I guess the only way is up. Many will blame Prendergast but he’s had zero ball to work with. The whole team looks so slow compared to France.

It's been one-way traffic. One team has been playing the conditions and the other doesn't know it has been raining all day. It's a complete contrast in style.

France's powerplay, their skill levels and their offloading, it's been so dominant and it could have been worse than the scoreline is now.

There is a lot of hard conversations to have now because it could be a long 40 minutes.

Not sure if Prendergast was the best horses for courses pick for 10 in this game. Yes he is a good attacker but he can’t defend. Was Farrell thinking Ireland would get to attack for 80mins?…

    Scott, Edinburgh

Ireland haven’t been in this one at all.. France utterly dominant - this is laying down a marker from the French as a warning.

    David, London

Unfortunately, Ireland are a sorry sight. Look like years of rebuilding are required. Cannot really just blame injuries for this performance. Hard to watch!

The stats tell you everything you need to know.

Ireland only have a 69% tackle success rate with 19 missed tackles and 78 made.

France, on the other hand, are at 79% and have only had to make 42 tackles and missed just eight.

They've also carried the ball 451 metres, compared to 173 metres for Ireland, and made 84 carries instead of Ireland's 34.

Are France really good, or Ireland really poor… maybe both true??!!

Genuinely, watching 15 dogs chasing a balloon would be one of the most entertaining things I could see. My labrador would be right in the middle of it too.

In the context of tonight, though, watching the 15 players in green so far has not been as fun.

    Fraser, Glasgow
