Six tries and a bonus point win, fair to say that Scarlets did the job they needed to tonight against the URC's bottom team.

Their first-half play was clinical, half-backs Archie Hughes and Carwyn Leggatt-Jones utilised the space superbly and Archer Holz delivered a standout display both in the loose and the tight.

But in reality, tonight's result was no more than par for Nigel Davies and co. Zebre improved after the break but for the opening 40 minutes were tame and easy to exploit.

Next week will provide a much more realistic indication of where this side is at - the small matter of a trip to Ireland to play champions Leinster.

Thank you for joining us for our live coverage this evening on a mixed night for Welsh teams. And with Ospreys and Dragons among the sides still to come, this weekend still has a long way to run.

Player of the match Archie Holz told S4C:

Really happy, I think this group we've worked really hard over the past few months especially and to get a result tonight, especially at home, really means a lot.

We've got brilliant fans so to turn up for them tonight was really good.

Was just trying to do my job, being physical, at collisions and set-piece and thankfully tonight we had the boys get around us.

As an eight I think we worked really well, which makes my job really easy.

Credit to the boys they made my life a hell of a lot easier.

They had a job to do, and the job is done.

There's still a lot more to do, but they've got the win tonight.

Scarlets needed this, it wasn't the most perfect game.

Any Italian team are hard to play against, but fair play to Scarlets for getting the job done.

Tom Rogers speaking on S4C - "Nice to come back with the boys, chuffed with the overall game but a little disappointed with the final try.

"The boys were disappointed last week, but we did it this week.

"Fair play to Zebre, they're an emotional team and they came back into it in the second half, again we're disappointed with conceding the last try.

"We need to score more tries with the wins.

"The challenge is to get top eight, it's a challenge, but we believe we can do it.

"It was class for the boys to get the win against Italy, gutted I wasn't part of it but it's brought real energy back to the club."

  6. Full-time: Scarlets 36-17 Zebrepublished at 21:39 GMT 20 March

Given the way Zebre were finishing, Scarlets fans and players probably breathe a sigh of relief as the final whistle goes.

    Odiase try, Da Re con

Another one for the visitors and it's David Odiase who picks up and pumps his legs to power over the line.

They were passive for 40 minutes, but credit to Zebre they rallied well in the final quarter.

This is not how Nigel Davies would have wanted to finish as Marnus van der Merwe limps off with injury.

He looks in a lot of discomfort.

  9. Try: Scarlets 36-10 Zebrepublished at 79 mins

    Staville

    Zebre get the final word.

Fair play, they've not given up and a clever cross-field kick from Thomas Dominguez finds the unmarked Staville - and the flanker does the rest.

He deserved that try, if only for his ambitious burst a few minutes ago.

  10. Player of the Match: Archer Holzpublished at 21:30 GMT 20 March

Few arguments there, the front-rower was like a rhino on red bull during his stint on the field.

Now safely sat on the bench, the Aussie fan favourite is all smiles when the announcement is made too.

Ahhh...said moment of the match is taken from us.

Peter Martin consults his TMO and adjudges there was a Scarlets knock-on before Macs Page made his searing break.

The crowd aren't happy, but replays suggest the official was right to ruin the party there.

    Macs Page you little dancer!

That is the moment of the match as the young centre breaks from inside his own half and executes a perfect chip and chase - regathering before speeding under the posts.

    Oh, but will it count?

    Scarlets 36-5 Zebre

It has been noted that Nigel Davies was slightly evasive on his Scarlets future this week.

Tonight's result is unlikely to alter the future in that respect, but out of interest Scarlets fans.....thumbs up here if you want him to remain in place. Down, if you feel his temporary stint should remain just that.

Outstanding flight from the kick-off, just given the ability to get behind.

    Great reaction from Page.

What is Gesi doing there, he's completely switched off.

Dwayne Peel has got to be smiling now, surely?

    Scarlets 36-5 Zebre

Fair play, Zebre flanker Bautista Stavile throws a dummy and shows a turn of pace, making 30 metres in the process.

Eventually he's hauled down and Marnus van der Merwe wins a penalty via a jackal but for a moment, I thought we were going to see a sensation individual score there.

    Gwyn Jones
    Former Wales captain on S4C

Fair play, Leggatt-Jones pulled the defenders in and Taylor dived over.

A great response after the Zebre try, yes the game is won, but any team wants a response like that.

    Scarlets hit straight back!

The game has sprung back into life here as Macs Page surges into the 22 where Jarrod Taylor is on hand to score his second try.

That was a clinical response - as the crowd breaks into a rendition of 'Sosban Fach'.

  18. Try: Scarlets 29-5 Zebrepublished at 65 mins

    Gesi

A famous comeback on the cards?

No, in all reality, but Zebre are finally on the board as left-winger Simone Gesi goes over out wide.

  19. 'Perfect mauls' from Scarletspublished at 63 mins

    Scarlets 29-0 Zebre

    Scott Baldwin
Former Wales & Ospreys hooker on S4C

What I liked about the Scarlets there, was the difference between the mauls.

Scarlets maul allows the movement to gain momentum to cross over.

Zebre have no connection so they have to reset.

The likelihood is, if they do the mistakes in the maul they're not going to go over.

Scarlets have perfected the mauls tonight.

    Scarlets 29-0 Zebre

Incidentally, Zebre's only away win this season came away to Georgian side Black Lion in the Challenge Cup.

Without trying to be harsh, it's been easy to see why.
