That's the chequered flag out in this session.

Josh Brookes and Dean Harrison set fast laps at the end of the session ahead of the very impressive Storm Stacey.

John McGuinness and Dominic Herbertson round out the top five with Peter Hickman, Carl Phillips, Ian Hutchinson, Mitch Rees and Paul Jordan the best of the rest.

Michael Dunlop was down in 25th, so he has work to do tomorrow.

Top job team. How important is qualifying going to be with the changeable conditions?

    Trevor, Westgate-on-Sea

Hey Trevor, thanks for the question!

    Very, is the short answer.

Qualifying positions for race day are taken across both sessions so even if today wasn't your day, you can still make amends tomorrow.

Things can change quickly on the north coast, but things are looking good for tomorrow so, in theory, the decisive laps should come then.

Today still matters though as riders have to reach a certain number of laps to officially qualify for racing, so getting them in the bank when the circuit is wet is doing no arm.

In tricky conditions, Stacey is leading the Superstock.

That is a big credit to him and the work he has put in.

Aaaaand the rain is back around the start/finish.

Loved seeing the Swedish rider being interviewed by Stephen and explaining about the pictures of his family and sponsors on his bike. Easy to recognise when flying past the house.

    Alison, Portstewart

Welcome to the party, Storm Stacey.

He posts the fastest time to dip under the five-minute barrier ahead of Dean Harrison.

He's not here to mess around on his debut.

Expect the times to drop, and fast.

We talk about the power of a Superstock now, it is not far off a Superbike at all.

In these conditions, most riders would probably rather ride a Superstock with all the benefits of the electronics than a Superbike.

A Superstock is just a bit easier to ride and, in these conditions, I don't think there is an advantage on a Superbike.

    Jeremy McWilliams on BBC iPlayer:

"It was lovely to gel with the bike as quickly as that, with so little time on the bike, you are never sure what it is going to feel like when you get to the north coast.

    "I actually am enjoying it.

"You can find the areas when you can push and when it is slippery, it is iffy conditions."
