Richard Cooper is having a really good run at the minute and to top the Superbike with a Superstock, is massive.

He would have had a good shout in the Superstock, if he had had the right tyre choice.

The organisers have done an excellent job.

It was dry, wet and then dry and then wet. So, to get a practice session done safely in those conditions is brilliant.

It is 2019 since McWilliams last won around here. He has had a couple podiums since, but I wouldn't rule him out at all.

I'm so pleased to hear that Rob Hodson is quick. It's his first time there as well.

    Good news for tomorrow.

The current forecast had a risk of the odd shower for practice on Wednesday, as you all discovered, but drier weather for Thursday and Saturday.

  13. 'Roads drying very quickly'published at 14:39 BST 6 May

    Lee Johnston
    Five-time winner on BBC iPlayer

It stopped raining about 20 minutes ago but look how dry the roads are now. It is drying very quickly for the guys.

We are hoping there is no more rain but, if there is, tyre choice will be crucial.

    Supertwin/Sportbike qualifying

The early laps are in an Jeremy McWilliams is leading the way so far.

Paul Jordan is second and Christian Elkin is third.

Just like with the earlier sessions, you can expect this to be mixed up as the times start to drop.

    Storm Stacey on BBC iPlayer:

"The takeaway from today is that I feel comfortable on the track. I can go to sleep knowing that I know where I am going tomorrow with confidence.

"It is going to be starting from scratch tomorrow with the dry and grip. I will just go from there really.

"If it clicks, it clicks and if it doesn't, I will have a good time. If it keeps clicking, you never know."

Watching from a wee town called Ermua in Biscay. Coverage as usual absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see dry roads and great racing over the next few days. Good luck to all and, by the way, when a guy called Storm goes to the racing, expect thunder!

  17. Go! Go! Go!published at 14:21 BST 6 May

Off we go for the final session of the day!

It's the Supertwin/Sportbike session, which has categories of bikes within the class for the first time this year.

  18. Postpublished at 14:18 BST 6 May

North West 200 Event Director Mervyn Whyte on BBC iPlayer:

On the day so far: "It is looking good at the minute, if we can go with the final session and get the roads open by 15:00 BST."

On Storm Stacey: "It is great news. I have been working with Storm over the last few months and he has been over to have a look at the circuit.

"Bringing some of these top riders from BSB, which we have on the last few years, is excellent for the event and we are looking forward to having him here and successful on Saturday."

On Davey Todd not being able to ride: "Very disappointing. Davey has been a highlight of the event over the last few years and had a lot of success.

"He is a fan favourite at the NW200 and, from an organisation point of view, we would have loved to see him on the grid.

"Unfortunately, the way things went, it is not possible."
