Djokovic puts a volley into the net!
Break point Medvedev! This really could be massive.
*Djokovic 4-6 4-6 0-0 Medvedev
Any slightest glimpse of the usual Djokovic is bringing the crowd to life. He has never had support like this on this court.
A few forehands find the mark but then the backhand fails again.
30-30.
Pressure right away at the start of the third...
Novak Djokovic was two sets down against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the French Open final earlier this year and came back to win.
He's going to have to do it again to seal this historic win that would mean so much.

What a brain freeze that was from both players!
Medvedev tried to hit an on-the-rise drop shot which was more of a pat - it had no back spin on the ball - and Djokovic got up to it so early he panicked and hit the ball wide.
That's what we've seen all night - Medvedev has made that one extra ball, he's been so consistent from the back of the court and has been serving excellently.
*Djokovic 4-6 4-6 0-0 Medvedev
Wide from Novak Djokovic! Medvedev gave him a chance, it was a loose, high drop shot, but Djokovic pushes his backhand into the tramlines.
Daniil Medvedev has a two-set lead. Blimey.

The first flicker of nerves? A double fault and a Medvedev backhand error.
Djokovic has saved two of the set points but one remains.
Djokovic 4-6 4-5 Medvedev*
Brilliant! Those long limbs of Medvedev get him to a drop shot and, under the highest pressure, he guides the ball into the corner.
Three set points...
Djokovic 4-6 4-5 Medvedev*
Ace from Medvedev! 30-0.

"Nole! Nole! Nole!" chant the crowd again.
The Russian finds a big first serve to start. 15-0.

Is this the biggest game of the Grand Slam season coming up here?
Djokovic 4-6 4-5 Medvedev*
Djokovic does the job, holding his nerve under a high ball to sneak out of trouble.
He's still not right, though. The relentless look on his face isn't there. He's losing the long rallies. It's just not Novak.
*Djokovic 4-6 3-5 Medvedev
Novak Djokovic serving to stay in this second set...
The crowd cheer a drop shot which results in an easy point but a 13th unforced error in the set follows from the Serb.
30-30.
*Djokovic 4-6 3-5 Medvedev
Medvedev is dictating almost all of these rallies. The serve is finding the corners. The forehand is a mix of sledgehammer and precision scalpel. Djokovic doesn't get a sniff in this service game.
Djokovic 4-6 3-4 Medvedev*
A little puff of the cheeks. A skip to the chair. Djokovic survives in this game at least.
He still needs to find away to break this Medvedev serve.

I just feel like there's, not a bail-out, but that Djokovic is trying to finish the points too early, that he's trying to go for more than he would usually.
He's so good when the rally goes long.
*Djokovic 4-6 2-4 Medvedev
Medvedev has done a lot right tonight but this time he has pushed a forehand long.
30-30. Can Djokovic escape?
*Djokovic 4-6 2-4 Medvedev
I keep expecting him to click into gear but it is just not happening.
0-30 on the Djokovic serve.
*Djokovic 4-6 2-4 Medvedev
What about Medvedev? How long can he keep this level up? This service game is wrapped up quickly again. Will he flinch?

Djokovic said he was going to play this match like it was the last match he’d ever play. The spirit may be willing, but the flesh doesn’t seem to be up to the task.
