Elsewhere, Croat 32nd seed Marin Cilic is a set up on Benjamin Bonzi and the all-American tussle between Taylor Fritz and Steve Johnson is into a final set.

That's got to be a real sickening for Gasquet as he put so much into that first set.

He started the first set with a break-point chance and it's the same in the second, but, just as before, can't take it. Deuce.

Well, well, well. Sorana Cirstea breaks back immediately and takes the opening set to a tie-break with Victoria Azarenka.

The pair trade some superb groundstroke winners, firing up the Court One crowd, and it's anyone's guess who will come through this one.

That is until a superb return from Cirstea brings up two set points. The Romanian goes long with the first, but then has the serve back and fires down a huge effort to take the first set!

Gasquet's on the defensive, well behind the baseline, he saves a few, but Federer keeps coming on the attack and eventually Gasquet can only net, 4-1 Federer.

Gasquet, needing to do something to mix it up, dashes into the net, tightens the angle and forces Federer to go wide with a passing attempt, 3-1 Federer.

Ace from Federer, down the middle, 3-0 Federer.

Gasquet is out, 2-0 Federer.
