Hard to tell Lopez and Nadal apart from a distance - both sporting flowing locks and red headbands.

Jamie Murray just flirts with the line, not even a kiss, just the slightest brush of fluff on the chalk, but that means it's in. Skupski follows up with a fiery return to drag GB back to 30-30.

Feels like we could be in a village fete in the middle of Andalusia when the brass band break into 'Viva Espana'.

Lots of flag-waving after every winning point for the Spanish pair.

One older woman is regularly wafting her red-and-yellow piece of nylon into the air and back down like she is shaking dirt off a rug outside of the window.

    GB 1-1 Spain*

GB get lucky after finding themselves on the same side of the court, as Nadal punches long. Lopez then looks for the line of Jamie Murray's serve but tickles it just wide. And that's a wild forehand from the world number one. A hold for GB, from 0-30 down.

    *GB 0-1 Spain

Rafael Nadal playing like a man possessed - he rips a backhand down the tramlines, Neal Skupski gets strings on it but the racquet is almost ripped from his grasp by the power of the Spaniard. 15-30.

It's as noisy as ever in Madrid. Plenty of trumpets between points. Spain are off to a flyer, Lopez getting up to meet a hanging return and thudding it down for 40-15.

Rafael Nadal sweeps away a volleyed winner off Jamie Murray for the hold.

This is the third or fourth time we've heard The Proclaimers today, it's like a student night in Edinburgh... it, of course, means the Brits are heading on to court.

Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski, you're up.

The British pair will need to serve well – it can slow down on Murray’s serve and he can be made to pay. It’s a very tough one to call.

Kyle Edmund won in straight sets earlier, here's what he said after: "I was good within myself, how I was feeling. I was just enjoying going out to the semi-finals of a Davis Cup against Spain.

"I knew it was going to be loud out there. And it almost, in a way, it didn't matter who I was playing, I was just concentrating on being me first and putting myself out there. And I dealt with it really well, I thought."

  15. Postpublished at 20:42 GMT 23 November 2019

Kyle Edmund put Great Britain ahead, but Rafael Nadal saw off Dan Evans to level this semi-final at 1-1. Who will win the doubles decider, and book a place against Canada in Sunday's Davis Cup final?

We're going to grab a quick cuppa (I'm sure that's what Rafa and co are doing right now...) but will be back in plenty of time for when the action gets under way just after 21:00 GMT.

See ya in a few minutes...

This is why you play the game, you dream of matches like this in front of a big crowd. From a GB point of view it’s a pretty special occasion, there’s bound to be some extreme emotions out there.

The screens around the media centre flash up with a graphic showing how the tie stands.

Feliciano Lopez is still down to play the doubles alongside Marcel Granollers for Spain.

That is surely going to change, especially as the doubles is not scheduled to start until 22:05 local time (21:05 GMT). Half an hour's rest for Senor Nadal.

Rafael Nadal, speaking to Eurospot, after his win over Dan Evans: "A tough first set, he played well, changing the rhythm and playing aggressive. After that I started to play with more freedom, less pressure, the ball started to go to the right spots. Super happy for the victory."
