What has stood out so far is how aggressive Nadal is being on his forehand. If Kyrgios sends anything short he gets punished.

Nick Kyrgios has not managed to get into a rally and outmuscled Rafael Nadal from the baseline.
Kyrgios complains at the changeover that Nadal is taking too long to ready himself to receive.

Nick Kyrgios is not a happy bunny. He is chuntering at the chair umpire, telling him he put his racquet up for a challenge and was not seen/ignored.
Rafael Nadal has a face like he's got a Royal flush in his hand. He doesn't want the drama....
Kyrgios 1-3 *Nadal
You wouldn't like him when he is angry.
Nick Kyrgios, after complaining about Rafa not being ready to receive serve, rattles through a service game to 15.
His final ace rips through the service box with Nadal having guessed the wrong way.
The crowd whoop appreciatively, wanting a full ding-donging battle.
*Kyrgios 0-3 Nadal
Nick Kyrgios is struggling to get a read on the Rafael Nadal serve. He chunks a return into the net to slip to 40-15 down.
The first nibble, figuratively, of the umpire's ear. Kyrgios believes the umpire missed his attempt to challenge the serve.
Nadal wins the next point as Krygios swats a forehand into the bottom of the net, angrily going for a death-or-glory winner.

Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles winner on BBC TV
Nick Kyrgios has to keep the points shorter and he has to stay up on the baseline.
As soon as he falls a metre or so behind it gives Nadal the chance to spread and open up his movement - and that's where Nick will find it very hard today.
He has to find the lines and open up the angles for himself.

Nick Kyrgios saves the first break point with the most delicate of drop-shots, shaving over the wire by mere millimetres.
But the second is converted by Nadal as he runs down a drop-shot, lobs over Kyrgios and swats away the tweener lob that the Australian puts up in response.
A little uppercut of celebration from Nadal.
*Kyrgios 0-1 Nadal
There is a palpable tension as Nick Kyrgios lines up on the baseline ready to serve and Rafael Nadal is still jigging around at the back of the court, toweling down and making him wait.
Nadal smites two mighty winners to move to 0-30. He has won the first six points of the match.

Here we go then. The long, laboured Harlem Globetrotter ball-bouncing pre-serve action of Rafael Nadal, rather than Nick Kyrgios' gatling gun delivery to get us going.

I think if Nick won a set today that would be really good.
And I think if he is going to win one it would need to be the first one. I can't see him coming back after losing the first set.
This is the most prestigious court in the world. You need to respect that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love watching Rafa Nadal go through his pre-match superstitions.
First water bottle down onto the floor between his feet. Turn it towards where he will be serving, labels facing the right way. And repeat with the second bottle.
He's previously said it's to make the bottles "smile". Whatever you say, Rafa.
