    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

In goes a red, followed by a blue for Stuart Bingham until he gets a nasty case of the yips missing a red to the top right corner.

Ali Carter is back in to bat but somehow manages to snooker himself after potting a red and a green.

This frame is crawling to a conclusion.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Ali Carter misses an easyish one (well by his standards) with the rest for the second time today on 37.

Something tells me that won't be the last mistake we see in this frame though.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Ali Carter's tie is ruffled and to be honest he looks a bit disheveled at the minute but that's what pressure does to you.

Can he hold it together to go in level at the interval? He's up to 30 but this doesn't look straight forward, with reds dotted about all over the table.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Well he was. Stuart Bingham has just missed a red into the left middle. Not his favourite pocket today.

Ali Carter comes back to the table 32 points behind.

Stuart Bingham is really earning his corn out there at the moment.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Stuart Bingham is pacing round the table and taking his time with every shot. He looks like a man on a mission.

It's hardly the most fluent of breaks but he's up to 26 and still going.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Just seen a replay of that Ali Carter shot...the white hopped, skipped and jumped before hitting a red.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Stuart Bingham could do some real damage here if he can hold his concentration.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

This really is a nervy frame.

Stuart Bingham and Ali Carter have been well off the mark in this one so far and now Carter miscues, trying to play a pot to the bottom corner while screwing back.

That was dreadful and he looks disgusted with himself.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

    John Parrott

One of the features of this week has been how good Ali Carter's tactical game has been. You don't beat John Higgins or Mark Selby otherwise.

He's hit two pretty poor safety shots in this frame now though.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

That's a poor safety shot from Ali Carter which is duly punished by Stuart Bingham.

But as per the story of the match so far, he then misses his next shot trying to take the skin off the yellow.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

If we thought at the start of the match there were no real clues about the winner, I don't think we are any further forward on that, regardless of what happens here.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

Right here we go. Last frame of the session. Let's do this.

    Frame 8: Bingham 4-3 Carter

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

We always say the last frame of a session has more gravitas, to go 5-3 or 44. It's not been one-visit stuff but that has made it more exciting.

There would have been more century breaks in the tournament if there were a few more big hitters in it but it doesn't mean it is any less gripping.

    Frame 7: Bingham 3-3 Carter

Break over for Staurt Bingham but he won't care a jot. The frame is in the bag.

    Frame 7: Bingham 3-3 Carter

So I write the last entry and then Stuart Bingham slides off a blue out of position to miss his next red.

    Typical.

Ali Carter can't capitalise though. Looks as though he is seething after over cutting an attempted pink into the bottom corner. Big chance for Bingham to edge back in front.

    Frame 7: Bingham 3-3 Carter

All of a sudden Stuart Bingham looks a tad more relaxed. After sinking an easy opener he races up to 45 in no time at all.

Wonder if he just needed the toilet before?

    Frame 7: Bingham 3-3 Carter

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

If you think, at somewhere like the Crucible with play over 17 days, how much time is wasted by players not killing off frames?

You tend to pot game ball and think okay that's the frame won, but it's not. It happens so often.

We're always saying it in commentary, 'pot the next ball'. Why don't they listen to us?

    Frame 7: Bingham 3-3 Carter

The sixth frame is the longest of the match so far - just the 32 minutes.

Both players are off for a comfort break!

    Frame 6: Bingham 2-3 Carter

This pair are all over the place until Ali Carter misjudges a double. Stuart Bingham has a tap in to win the frame.

Which he does. He's fallen over the line to draw level.
