Back to all square. It's a best of five. Stuart Bingham with a break of 85. Is he on a winning streak?

Has anyone told Ali Carter his opponent won five frames on the spin against Kyren Wilson and Mark Williams?

Being able to think clearly at the latter stages of a match separates the best from the rest.

Anyone can play well at the start and beginning of a match but it's about doing it at the end.

Stuart Bingham has been there and done it before, so will he be more comfortable as the pressure ramps up?

    Frame 14: Bingham 6-7 Carter

Where has this Stuart Bingham been for the last few hours?

He's now playing vintage stuff and approaching a break of 70. That mid-session interval has worked wonders.

    Frame 14: Bingham 6-7 Carter

That's close from Ali Carter who tried to find the bottom left corner with a longish red but he's left Stuart Bingham in.....

    Frame 13: Bingham 6-7 Carter

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Ali Carter missed a pink you would expect him to get. Maybe the intensity has started to ramp up a bit and it's played on his mind.

You have so much time to think during shots, you have to try to get these thoughts out of your head. It's tough to train your brain but somehow you have to try to stay in the moment.

  7. Bingham stops the rotpublished at 21:22 GMT 19 January 2020

    Frame 13: Bingham 6-7 Carter

Listen to that round of applause. Stuart Bingham has got his first frame for a while on the board. A very solid 64 as well. Things are looking up.

    Frame 13: Bingham 5-7 Carter

With twenty appearances between them before the 2020 edition of the Masters, Stuart Bingham and Ali Carter had only progressed beyond the opening round three times, believe it or not.

At times they have played like it's the first round as well but it's just gone up a notch in the last few frames.

And this is now a decent chance for Bingham, who moves 43 points ahead with 67 remaining,

This is now a huge frame.

The difference between 8-5 and 7-6 is massive psychologically.

    Frame 13: Bingham 5-7 Carter

Oh no. Stuart Bingham gets his angles a touch out and swipes a pink on to the knuckle of the middle pocket. He's made eight.

Ali Carter can't get going though and back Bingham comes to the table with a decent chance to add some points.

    Frame 13: Bingham 5-7 Carter

A pretty subdued start to the 13th frame until Ali Carter crashes a red down the table but forgets to apply enough bottom to bring it back to the top cushion.

Stuart Bingham has a tester to the left middle.

Ken Doherty is the man in the middle chatting to the family and friends of Stuart Bingham and Ali Carter...

He has a quick chat with Stuart's other half Michelle who says,"It is nerve-wracking.

"I don't normally get nervous until this stage. I spoke to him earlier he seemed quite calm and relaxed."

Christopher: Ali Carter wasn't ranked high enough to qualify outright for the Masters, it was only due to Ronnie backing out that he qualified but what a job he's done to capitalize on the opportunity. It'll be one of the best sporting stories of 2020 if he wins it.

Justyn: The only thing that could make The Masters arena better now is bringing back that blondewood table from the Jimmy White-Kirk Stevens match.

I talked up the players for their dapper appearance before but what about the referee?

Difficult to spot on TV but did anyone clock Brendan Moore's cufflinks in that session?

A nod to the Sheffield officials football allegiances.

    Bingham 5-7 Carter

Looks like we are taking a trip down memory lane on BBC Two at the moment..

There's a first time for everything of course, as Stuart Bingham and Ali Carter would probably testify as they chase their first Masters win.

But when you see Cliff Thorburn, Jimmy White et al on TV it's a reminder of some of the great winners of this tournament.

Ali Carter looked so dominant at the end of that session. If he can reassert himself after the interval he could continue to dominate and that makes it a very important next frame for Stuart Bingham.

  18. 'Bingham desperately needs a break'published at 20:47 GMT 19 January 2020

    Frame 12: Bingham 5-7 Carter

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

Stuart Bingham desperately needs a break but it's the worst thing that could happen for Ali Carter who I think will romp to victory if he carries on playing so well.

    Frame 12: Bingham 5-6 Carter

Where has this frame and the last come from as far as Ali Carter is concerned?

He motors up to 60 odd and looks on course for another frame. He's going to be a happy man at the mid-session interval.
