Berocca Juniors once again agonisingly missed out on progressing through the FA People's Cup group stages after amassing a mighty one point. However the boys were always focused on the league, with the cup being seen as nothing more than a distraction this season.

Yet again the chemistry between Niall Nagar and Ryan Craig proved vital in putting the Juniors 2-1 up against Felling Ballers in the opening encounter, only to be pegged back by a last minute goal.

Nevertheless the lads went into the following game against Los Galacticos in high spirits, but weren't able to convert their confidence into goals. The opposition won 2-0, depsite a sterling performance by Jake Hawkyard between the posts. 

By the time the team played Ladzio, fatigue was setting in with it being their second match back-to-back. BJFC quickly went 2-0 down and even a comeback spurred on a Harri Saunders goal wasn't enough to get anything out of the match.

In the reverse fixtures the Juniors' luck didn't improve. The muggy weather didn't favour the lads' strategy, as the boys had prepared intensely for below-zero conditions. A brace from Saunders and another from Craig weren't rewarded with any points against Felling Ballers, as the lads lost 5-3. It was a similar story in the following match against Los Galacticos. Harry Van Der Hoek and James Sproston scored in that 5-2 loss. But the performance of the day was in the final match against Ladzio, as the Juniors rallied from 3-0 down to bring it back to 3-2. Jack Cryer scored after a neat build up and a one-two with Sproston. Then Sproston himself scored after an overhit pass allowed him to slide in to slot home.

Despite not progressing, the club hierarchy are delighted with the progress that Berocca Juniors have made in the last year. The football that the Juniors have played this season has been of a different standard to when they started.

BJFC now face a tough task on Monday against top of the league, Ponies. It was good for the lads to get a run out today, with the gaffer seeing it as an opportunity to improve fitness rather than to progress. With some of the lads having a busy week, they'll be given a day off tomorrow before the match on Monday.

Yesterday we brought you one rap about how football helped one Shakespeare-inspired person change their life around yesterday and we've got another.

Here's Kabir, who's a helper/general assistant at Goals Portsmouth and also works for the Homeless FA, bigging up BBC Get Inspired and the FA People's Cup.

We're sure that there will be plenty of characters playing the Walking Football and Male Veteran categories this afternoon, rather like these guys from yesterday....

Here's the story of one of the teams who will be taking part in the Walking Football category this afternoon......

Mark Walsh is manager and player of West Oxford Dads, which was originally set up to run sessions for children who wanted to play, but the dads kept joining in!

They started just two years ago and are made up from a loose 20 players, with the average age 43. 

Within their team they have a Romanian professor of maths, a painter and decorator and Telegraph journalist – diverse. 

They heard about the People's Cup on the Oxfordshire FA website.

Fans have gathered from around the world and excitement has grown as Young and Nimble face fierce competition from around the area in a group and knockout tournament that only the best of the best can participate.

Tom Dodds has been replaced by Daniel Welch due to an illness in the late days of last week.

Speculation also grew about whether Dan Welch would make the starting line up but reports from the past week show that he will be playing. Earlier injuries to his hamstring caused slight concern for the team as he is key out on the left wing. He recently completed his medical and is fit to play, BBC sources confirm.

Captain and goalkeeper George Bass has worked hard to keep moral up within the squad recruiting a solid defensive midfielder Tom Askey on loan from 7-a-side team Murder on Zidane's Floor.

Other defenders include Moyo Solarin and his twin Moho who both offer skill and strength, supplemented by close control which will be pivotal in the dying embers of each game.

Harry Francis (errr - isn't that you Harry?) and Tomiwa Odulaja are crucial midfield players who offer versatility as well as a handful of goals (if you do so say yourself).

Further up the field, the 6ft striker Ifiok Essien brings speed, power and aggression to the team as well as a needed ability to score goals. Essien's goal tally is magnificent and should cause problems for the opposition's defense.

Young and Nimble are the team to beat as the first round of the FA People's Cup Begins.
