Arsenal are setting a high tempo and trying to push Chelsea back. No chance for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to make an impact against his old club yet.

And if some are starting to think the momentum has shifted inexorably towards Manchester City in the Premier League title race, no-one has told Arsenal's fans. Great atmosphere inside Emirates Stadium.

Just two completed passes and no shots for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang so far.

Arsenal play the corner short with Leandro Trossard getting a give-and-go with Martin Odegaard but Trossard's cross to the back post is too deep and goes harmlessly behind for a goal kick.

Chelsea are struggling to get out and Granit Xhaka wins a corner for the hosts, the first of the match...

A painful one for Chelsea centre-half Thiago Silva, who clatters into an advertising screen around the pitch, but he's OK to carry on.

Keith: If Arsenal don't win tonight, they could easily completely fall away and be caught for second by Newcastle who they face soon and are rampant.

Sebastian: Hard to understand why Arteta has not played Ben White as CB since Saliba's injury. It has definitely been the weakest position and White proved great there while at Leeds and Brighton

Cesar Azpilicueta doesn't get enough on a header back to Kepa Arrizabalaga and it nearly costs Chelsea.

But Kepa does well to save the effort at close range from Granit Xhaka.

Azpilicueta has enjoyed a great career for Chelsea, making 500 appearances for them, and was very relieved to see his keeper save him then.

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, one of the players of the season, jinks on to his left foot and strikes at goal from the edge of the penalty area but the veteran Thiago Silva is in the right place to get the block in.

We're under way with two of the Premier League's most out-of-form sides.

Aaron: As a neutral, definitely wanting Arsenal to win here, keep the race going and don't resort to folding like previous years. However, the team Lampard has put out tonight, if he'd gone with that from the off, Chelsea would've accrued some solid wins. I'm sure Arteta will be a little bit nervous but look, Arsenal will be the favourites tonight. I think they'll nudge it.

Julian: That's an experienced line up from Lampard. Unfortunately confidence and morale is so low at the club at the moment I can't see where the next goal, let alone win, is going to come from. I can see them losing every remaining game this season and finishing about 15th.

• Arsenal are enduring a four-match winless league run (drew three, lost one). Their only longer top-flight streak without a victory under Mikel Arteta spanned seven games from November to December 2020.
• They have dropped points in seven of their past 14 league fixtures, in contrast to just three of their opening 19 this season.
• Chelsea have lost all five league and cup matches since Frank Lampard returned as manager. It is their longest losing streak since a run of six from October to November 1993.
• Their only goal in the past seven games was a deflected shot by Conor Gallagher versus Brighton.
• Frank Lampard is winless in 15 competitive fixtures, losing the last nine, since Everton's 3-0 Premier League home victory against Crystal Palace in October.

Adam: Chelsea are only nine points above the relegation zone. It couldn’t happen, could it?

Mikel Arteta said Arsenal are "not satisfied" with just qualifying for the Champions League.

Despite their four-match winless run, Arsenal are guaranteed a top-four finish for the first time since 2015-16 under Arsene Wenger.

Arteta said: "Not a lot of people were optimistic we were able to reach the Champions League.

"What I like the most is even achieving that with six games to go, something that hasn't happened in more than a decade at this club, we're still not satisfied. We're still upset and we want more.

"If we want to be the club that we want, to be consistently with the best, this is the mentality we need. That’s what I loved more the last few days."

Arsenal's last appearance in Europe's premier competition was a dismal 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in February 2017 but will end their long absence in September.

"There are five games to go and a lot of things are going to happen still," added Arteta.

"What we have to do is forget about what happened from it [Manchester City defeat], learn and move on to the next game at home with our people in a London derby and put things right.

"This is Arsenal football club. We have to be here to win every single trophy."

Jambarrell: Still don't understand why this Chelsea team is better than if they had just built out their academy side - Tomori, Guehi, Abraham, Gallagher etc etc.

For both sides this is massive. For Arsenal it's about regaining self-belief and confidence. If they win this game, maybe something can happen between now and the end of the season. They just have to keep winning.

For Chelsea, it looks like they just can't win a game. They've got to try and find some form somehow.
