  1. Ferguson looking to venture forwardpublished at 20:11 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Lewis Ferguson looks like he's been given license to go forward and really support Ramirez up top. The best way for him to kiss and make up, if you want, with the Aberdeen fans is to put in a big performance tonight.

  2. Postpublished at 20:11 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Another long ball into the box reaches Christian Ramirez, but Aberdeen's 15-goal striker's first touch takes it away from him.

  3. ouch!

    Ouch!published at 20:10 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

There's a clash of heads between Aberdeen's Matty Kennedy and St Johnstone's Dan Cleary, and it's the Aberdeen man who appears to have come off worse.

He's just back from a lengthy layoff and could do without having to depart early. But he's back up and walking it off.

  4. 'A lot left to play for'published at 20:06 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

There's plenty of time for Aberdeen, especially with their response so far. But, then again, St Johnstone have looked good too. They're not just sitting back and making it difficult for Aberdeen to attack. Callum Davidson has set them up well to test the home side here.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:05 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

It's a top save from St Johnstone goalkeeper Zandrer Clark.

Connor Barron does well on the right, picks out Jonny Hayes with a cross who takes it down well, spins, and lashes a shot at goal which is tipped over the bar.

  6. Postpublished at 20:04 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Glenn Middleton gets goal side of Jack Mackenzie and burrows into the box, but the Dons defender manages to recover and stop his progress before he can get a shot away.

Saints, with just 14 league goals to their name before tonight - are continuing to look dangerous.

  7. Postpublished at 20:03 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Noticeable that Lewis Ferguson has had a few boos tonight. Not a lot, but some.

It is no doubt a response to Ferguson looking like he was reacting angrily to the stick he was getting from the Aberdeen support as he walked off the pitch after Aberdeen's cup defeat on Saturday.

  8. Postpublished at 20:00 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

David Bates makes a slack pass and St Johnstone can press, with some intricate passing getting them through a pile of red shirts, but the move breaks down right on the edge of Aberdeen's box and its an easy take for Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

  9. Postpublished at 19:57 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Well we said before the match this game wasn't known for it's goals.

But we've had one already and plenty of chances.

  10. 'What a response from Aberdeen'published at 19:55 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Derek Lilley
    Former St Johnstone forward

    Quote Message

I think Zander Clark got the slightest of touches, if so, it's a fantastic save. It's a brilliant hit from Brown too.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:54 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

What a response by Aberdeen who hit back with two big chances.

Connor Barron doesn't get enough on the shot and his shot is cleared off the line.

Then Scott Brown thumps an effort at goal from about 25 yards out which Zander Clark tips onto the crossbar.

  12. 'Smart ball in'published at 19:53 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Derek Lilley
    Former St Johnstone forward

    Quote Message

It was a great, low ball in, which I think is crucial given the height of the St Johnstone forwards. A great start for them.

  13. 'He couldn't miss'published at 19:52 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Really good play from Middleton. They had two or three bites at it and then it fell for Hendry who had a simple task, he really couldn't miss.

  14. goal

GOAL Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstonepublished at 19:50 GMT 15 February 2022

    Callum Hendry

It's a dream start for St Johnstone.

Glenn Middleton's shot is saved, as is Ali Crawford. But while the Saints players are queuing up to take a shot, Aberdeen's Declan Gallagher is left to take them all on himself, and former Dons loanee Callum Hendry taps in.

    St Johnstone goal
  15. Postpublished at 19:49 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone earn the game's first corner.

However, the visitors can't make much of Ali Crawford's delivery to the near post and it's out harmlessly for a goal kick.

  16. Postpublished at 19:47 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-0 St Johnstone

A bit of a hectic start by both teams.

Scott Brown plays a long ball forward towards Aberdeen striker Christian Ramirez, but he can't get control of it in the box and it's easily cleared.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:44 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen 0-0 St Johnstone

    We're underway at Pittodrie

  18. Away day joypublished at 19:44 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen v St Johnstone (19:45)

Incredibly, only one of the last 12 league matches between these two sides has been won by the home team.

Both this season's clashes have also gone the way of the away side.

It also isn't a fixture renowned for its goals. In the last seven games between the pair, six of them have either been 0-0 or 1-0, so tonight we have some making up to do.

  19. Two clubs in crisispublished at 19:41 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen v St Johnstone (19:45)

The two clubs meeting tonight at Pittodrie have both had a turbulent week.

Aberdeen have not won a league game in 2022, and on Saturday their 2-1 defeat to Motherwell was the last straw for chairman Dave Cormack who ended manager Stephen Glass' 11-month spell in charge of the club.

Glass has had the shortest reign of all Aberdeen's permanent managers in their history. A win tonight would put them just one point off fourth place and in with a chance of European qualification, but a defeat would leave them just eight points clear of bottom spot having played a game more.

St Johnstone currently occupy bottom spot. A mini-revival of sort has given them a win and two draws in three games before the loss at St Mirren, coupled with Dundee's surprise win away to Hearts, left them back at the Premiership basement.

  20. 'Were Aberdeen, we'll fight back'published at 19:39 GMT 15 February 2022

    Aberdeen v St Johnstone (19:45)

Aberdeen interim manager Barry Robson tells BBC Scotland: "Yesterday we got 30-40 minutes on the pitch with them but that's all we've had. We tried to put some simple ideas across to them and we'll see where we are with them.

"I believe in all the players here. We've got some young players in there. We've a few injuries which isn't great but that's what football brings you.

"Everyone wants to talk about negatively about Aberdeen, but I've been here a long time, I love this football club. We'll fight back, don't worry about that. I love it when all these boys come up here and they want to say this and they want to say that. We're Aberdeen, we'll fight back don't worry.

"Pressure? I've done it all my life. So lets look forward to the game."
