  1. Postpublished at 53mins

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

It's end-to-end stuff at the moment. Jonathan Obika threatens at one end, winning a corner, but Well sprint clear and Tony Watt has a shot deflected wide.

From the corner, Ross Maciver fires past the post. Better from the home side.

    Quote Message

Motherwell are looking to break, but as soon as they do, St Mirren get back in numbers. They're crowding out Rolando Aarons, who they know wants to dribble and create chances. They're giving him no option to go forward. It's credit to St Mirren

  3. Tait on for Hartleypublished at 20:51 GMT 18 February 2020

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson appears to be going for it, with Richard Tait replacing the unfortunate Peter Hartley, who contributed a first-half own goal, at the break as the home side switch to three at the back.

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

Motherwell get the second 45 minutes under way, but it is a long way back for the home side.

Motherwell have to go for it. They just have to. It's a cup tie. It doesn't matter if they lose by five, six or seven. They can't sit back and wait

  8. Well struggling in defence and attackpublished at 20:45 GMT 18 February 2020

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

The Motherwell supports around us are furious and rightly so, because that's as poor as I have seen Motherwell in a long, long time. Not just defensively. They have offered virtually nothing from as an attacking force

  9. Hurricane Obikapublished at 20:44 GMT 18 February 2020

    HT: Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

St Mirren have scored 21 goals in 26 Premiership games this season - four fewer than anyone else in the Scottish top flight.

But you wouldn't guess that if you were a stranger transported to Fir Park tonight.

Storm Dennis has been replaced with Hurricane Obika, the two-goal striker who has been helped blow a hole through the middle of the home defence.

    HT: Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

    Steven Thompson

    Quote Message

St Mirren have looked like they are going to score with every attack. It makes you wonder where has this attacking prowess been hiding? Because St Mirren have lacked goals all season

  11. HALF-TIME Motherwell 1-4 St Mirrenpublished at 20:34 GMT 18 February 2020

Who would have predicted that half-time scoreline?

Yes, Motherwell have not won at home in four games, but St Mirren have not won away in four either.

Jonathan Obika and Alex Jakubiak have tormented a home defence who are obviously missing the presence of ill Scotland centre-half Declan Gallagher and several injured strikers along with James Scott, who was sold to Hull City.

Obika's opening goal was cancelled out by Liam Polworth, but the big Englishman restored the advantage, helped set up the third, put in his own net by Peter Hartley, before Sam Foley fired a fourth that has left the home team and support stunned.

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Another slack goal from Motherwell. They do not clear their lines. Foley makes a decent run in to the box but is just gifted possession. The defending has just been so abject

  13. Postpublished at 44mins

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

Bevis Mugabi has been unable to cope with the physicality of Jonathan Obika and the Uganda defender trots off to be replaced with Mark O'Hara.

The introduction of the on-loan Peterborough midfielder will require a switch in formation for Stephen Robinson's side.

  14. 'Such a poor performance'published at 20:31 GMT 18 February 2020

    Motherwell 1-4 St Mirren

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It's another poor one for Motherwell to lose. Mugabi has gone down after a clash with Obika. The rest of the team don't really respond to it. It comes to Durmus and again he puts a good ball in. Motherwell are just so passive and it has been such a poor performance

  15. goal

GOAL Motherwell 1-4 St Mirrenpublished at 42mins

    Sam Foley

It is four now! Jonathan Obika again overpowers Bevis Mugabi and, when the ball reaches Sam Foley, the Irish midfielder fires home from just inside the penalty box.

Motherwell are fourth in the Premiership and St Mirren third bottom, but you can't see the home side coming back from this.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 37mins

    Motherwell 1-3 St Mirren

Almost four for St Mirren as Alex Jakubiak this time causes all sorts of problems with a fine move and cross.

It looks like Cameron MacPherson is going to score, but goalkeeper Mark Gillespie pulls off an excellent stop to effectively keep Well in the tie.

  17. 'That's two very avoidable goals'published at 20:22 GMT 18 February 2020

    Motherwell 1-3 St Mirren

    Steven Thompson

    Quote Message

Again, defensively, you have to ask where are Motherwell? St Mirren counter attack fabulously. You can hear the home supporters around about us are absolutely livid. And rightly so. That's two very avoidable goals

  18. goal

GOAL Motherwell 1-3 St Mirrenpublished at 33mins

    Peter Hartley (own goal)

Jonathan Obika is a man inspired and he sets up a third goal a matter of seconds after scoring his own second.

Sam Foley should score, but when his effort is saved by goalkeeper Mark Gillespie, it bounces off defender Peter Hartley and into his own net.

The goal is greeted by a chorus of boos from the home support.
