    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Hibs are looking a bit more hungry and a bit more dangerous early in the second half.

Martin Boyle scampers up the right and wins a corner. Hibs take it quickly, Vykintas Slivka works his way into space in the box, but his cross is safely into the arms of Allan McGregor.

I don't think Rangers need to change anything. They play 4-3-3 and they do it in every game. So I think it'll be more of the same and just be ruthless. When that next chance comes it's important that Rangers take it.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:49 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

AN immediate impact from Daryl Horgan in the opening minute of the second half. His teasing right-foot cross from the left drifts just across the face of Allan McGregor's goal.

A minute later, Hibs continue to press, but Martin Boyle gets robbed and then cynically brings down Ryan Kent on the counter. Yellow card.

  5. Ross makes much-needed changespublished at 20:47 GMT 20 December 2019

    HT: Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Jack Ross, understandably, has made changes at half-time. Boy, are they needed.

Off go Stevie Mallan and Flo Kamberi. On come Vykintas Slivka and Daryl Horgan.

At 2-0 it isn't over. But Hibs will have to take a few risks now and the more risks they take, the more vulnerable they are at the back. And we all know how slick and dangerous Rangers are. So they have to take a few gambles but there's a risk that comes with that. I can only see Rangers scoring again.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke is an interested spectator at Easter Road tonight. I wonder who will be catching the eye of the national gaffer.

Ryan Jack has looked very good for Rangers so far.

Both Hibs full-backs are on yellow cards because they've got too many players to mark. They're trying to get there but they're a yard or two off. Now both of them will have to walk a tightrope in terms of making tackles and marking people.

A furious chorus of boos echoes around three-quarters of Easter Road. The other segment erupts in a roar of approval as the half-time whistle blows.

Rangers have shredded Hibs in this first 45 minutes - absolutely shredded them. Ofir Marciano's awful error gave Ryan Kent a gift of a goal with less than four minutes gone. Four minutes later, Joe Aribo steered home a real cracker.

They've had numerous chances to add to their lead, Aribo and James Tavernier coming closest to making it 3-0.

Hibs and Jack Ross need to change something or they're staring at an absolute horsing. They'll be mightily relieved to get up the tunnel only two goals behind.

  12. Hibs' full-backs see yellowpublished at 20:28 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

A foul by Lewis Stevenson yields the first yellow card of the night for the Hibs left-back. Jason Naismith gets his name taken barely a minute later. The full-backs have been up against it tonight as Rangers stretch the hosts and their diamond midfield pattern looks more like a crushed parallelogram.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:26 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Rangers are like a prizefighter toying with a wounded quarry. At any moment, you sense they could cock a right hand and deliver a knockout punch. They're weaving and slaloming around the Hibs box, hopelessly bamboozling the home defence.

James Tavernier gets on the end of a precise cross from the left and his header is well held by Ofir Marciano. It's one-way traffic.

  14. CLOSE!published at 20:22 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Wow. You will not see a better cross this season than the curling beauty James Tavernier has just whipped across the Hibs goal. Sensational delivery from the Rangers captain out wide on the right, rifling through the space between defenders and goalkeeper.

No Rangers takers in the box. It just needed a touch.

    Quote Message

Flo Kamberi is taking too many touches when he's on the ball and just there he was trying to be too fancy with the backheel. It feels like Hibs need to just miss out a pass. They're going wide to get forward instead of just going through the gaps that are there for them.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:19 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Better from Hibs. For the first time in an age, they keep possession for a sustained spell and carve out a shooting opportunity in Rangers territory, Stevie Mallan rasping just wide on the half-volley.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:17 GMT 20 December 2019

    Hibernian 0-2 Rangers

Finally, something to rouse the Hibs fans. Martin Boyle latches on to a long ball, and goes at the Rangers defence.

His vicious low drive is brilliantly tipped wide by Allan McGregor. Even better for the Rangers stopper, the officials don't notice his crucial touch on the ball and the visitors have a goal kick instead of defending a corner.

Hibs have such a dilemma when the Rangers wingers come inside and the full-backs go high. Connor Goldson has hit two fantastic diagonal passes out to Borna Barisic. Do they go in with Kent or stay wide with the full-backs? Right now they're not doing either.
