  1. 'Wide men need to get in to the action'published at 20:06 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland 0-1 Israel

    Alasdair Lamont
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

Alex McLeish and James McFadden have been out at the edge of the technical area trying to get instructions on, much as they were in Haifa. McFadden looked to be telling Ryan Fraser to come out wider. Scotland desperately need him and James Forrest - so impressive against Albania - to come to life.

  2. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Scotland 0-1 Israel

Scotland string a sequence of passes together for the first time but they can't fashion a glimpse of goal, with Israel keeping a good shape with their five-man defence.

  3. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Scotland 0-1 Israel

Callum Paterson is getting roasted at right-back. Would Alex McLeish consider an early change? His options are limited though, with maybe only Graeme Shinnie and Jack Hendry able to fill in there.

  4. 'Special strike'published at 19:57 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland 0-1 Israel

    Quote Message

It's a special strike, maybe Allan McGregor is a bit far out. Beram Kayal has curled it into that far corner. This early in the game Scotland are not picking up the long balls and not clearing the space.

It's a great strike from distance from Brighton's Beram Kayal but Scotland just stood off the midfielder and there might be a few questions about Allan McGregor's starting position, with the goalkeeper a fair bit off his line.

  6. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

The visitors are more assured in possession in these early moments, with Scotland's passing rather rushed and wayward so far.

  7. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

Ryan Christie guards the near post from the corner but Israel come again. It looks like they want to target Callum Paterson, with Taleb Tawatha eager to attack the makeshift full-back.

  8. Postpublished at 1 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

First corner goes to Israel as Callum Paterson is caught napping wide on the right.

Here we go. Scotland in all navy. Israel in all white.

  10. Hampden offers home comfortpublished at 19:44 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

We've seen our fair share of misery in recent years but results at home are picking up when it counts.

Scotland have lost just one of their past 12 competitive home games (W8 D3) and that was to Germany when they were world champions.

  11. Is the Nations League a good idea?published at 19:42 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

Not long until kick off now... Just time to ask what do we make of the Nations League?

Hit or miss? The opposition may not have set the pulses racing this time but it has to be better than stale friendlies, no?

Or are you fed up with all of these international breaks getting in the way of the domestic action?

  12. Tartan Army yet to be won overpublished at 19:40 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

    Alasdair Lamont
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

It doesn’t look like Saturday’s resounding win over Albania has persuaded too many additional Scotland fans to buy tickets for tonight’s match. The crowd is sparse to say the least. The weather hasn’t helped but when the players emerge to see the crowd, it must be disheartening.

  13. 'Give the guys support all the way to the last minute'published at 19:39 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

    Quote Message

This is a total different game here tonight, you're back at home, you're under the pressure of home fans, even though there's not a lot here but it's very, very important that the Tartan Army stick behind Scotland. If they don't get off to a great start, you've got to stick behind Scotland and give the guys support all the way to the last minute.

  14. McLeish hits 10 for the second timepublished at 19:37 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

This is game number 10 of the second Alex McLeish era.

It's three wins and six defeats so far.

The manager is looking to win consecutive matches with Scotland for the first time since October 2007.

During that first spell, he enjoyed seven wins and three losses.

No draws for Big Eck? Please don't make it a first tonight...

  15. Israel coach 'optimistic'published at 19:35 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

Israel coach Andreas Herzog on Sky Sports: "We have to play with a lot of confidence going forward.

"It's always easier when you win some games. Both teams are in a good shape and I expect a very good game today.

"They have some very fast players on the wings.

    "I'm really optimistic today."

  16. Can Hampden history repeat itself?published at 19:33 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

Scotland had beaten Israel in all three meetings before October's 2-1 defeat in Haifa.

The only previous home game against Israel came in April 1981 in a World Cup qualifier, Scotland winning 3-1 thanks to a John Robertson* brace and a Davie Provan strike.

  17. Same starting line-up 'a no-brainer' for McLeishpublished at 19:30 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

Scotland manager Alex McLeish on Sky Sports: "This was a no-brainer.

"Everybody declared themselves fit. We've got some fantastic players on the bench to come on.

"I'm expecting Israel to attack us.

"It only takes a second to score a goal. It's up to us to create that and create chances.

"Whatever happens, we know we'll be giving it everything tonight."

  18. Forrest finds form in front of goalpublished at 19:28 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

James Forrest marked his 25th cap with two goals in Albania. Those were his first strikes at international level, having made his debut back in 2011 when Craig Levein was in charge.

The 27-year-old has hit nine goals for Celtic so far this season, including four in a 6-0 win at St Johnstone last month.

  19. Shkoder and awe from Scotlandpublished at 19:25 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

With so many players dropping out, the team that started in Albania had an unfamiliar look, with David Bates winning his first cap in central defence, Steven Fletcher recalled in attack and Callum Paterson asked to reprise his old Hearts role at right-back, despite playing up front for Cardiff this season.

Any worries were quickly allayed as in-form wingers James Forrest and Ryan Fraser led the way to a thumping 4-0 victory in Shkoder.

After such a good performance, it's no surprise to see the same line-up this evening.

  20. Squad hit hard by call-offspublished at 19:21 GMT 20 November 2018

    Scotland v Israel (19:45)

Manager Alex McLeish was already missing crocked players like Steven Naismith and Leigh Griffiths when he named his squad, while experienced English Premier League trio Robert Snodgrass, Tom Cairney and Matt Ritchie were omitted for a variety of reasons after being consulted.

Then the call-offs started... When Kieran Tierney pulled up with a hamstring problem in training last Friday, McLeish had lost nine of his original party.

The boss said it was "freakish" but insisted there was "nothing sinister" about the volume of withdrawals.
