  9. CLOSE!published at 48mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

Rangers ought to be in front.

St Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson makes a mess of a Scott Arfield shot and Eros Grezda pounces on the rebound only to be denied by a block from a defender.

From Andy Halliday's inswinging corner, Connor Goldson somehow fails to connect with his flying header from four yards out.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:33 GMT 3 November 2018

  11. Frustration for Rangerspublished at 13:32 GMT 3 November 2018

    HT: St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

"Steven Gerrard will be frustrated. On Wednesday, he said only three or four of his players would have got pass marks.

"It was a massive blow to get knocked out of the cup and he'll have been hoping that would have been away by today.

"If Rangers have designs on being competitive and challenging for the title, they've got to come out and get at St. Mirren, but Rangers haven't done that they're showing a lack of creativity they're showing a lack of belief and that's got to be a concern for Gerrard."

  12. So far so good for St Mirrenpublished at 13:27 GMT 3 November 2018

    HT: St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Sport Scotland in Paisley

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney will be the happier of the two bosses. His side created some good opportunities and the home players are being applauded off the pitch with words of encouragement.

Rangers didn’t really get started in the first half. A frustrating performance from them so far.

  13. In the balancepublished at 13:24 GMT 3 November 2018

    HT: St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

The stats suggest a very even first half in Paisley, with both teams going close right before the half-time whistle.

But it is St Mirren's Oran Kearney who will be the happier of the two managers.

  14. HALF-TIME - St Mirren 0-0 Rangerspublished at 13:20 GMT 3 November 2018

Steven Gerrard and his Rangers side are greeted with murmurs of discontent as the half-time whistle blows.

They have been playing against a strong wind, but the Rangers boss will still be unhappy at his side's toothless display.

St Mirren, looking to avoid a seventh consecutive defeat since 1969, have had the better chances and forced Allan McGregor into a couple of fine saves.

You just have look at Steven Gerrard's body language. Rangers are really lacking quality in the final third and it's been a frustrating half for Gerrard. St. Mirren look organised

    Ouch!published at 34mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos goes down heavily.

It looks like the match ball has hit him in a painful place, but he emerges with two fingers bandaged together and is able to carry on.

The suggestion is that Anton Ferdinand stood on the Colombian's hand as he went down.
