Phenomenal strength from the Brazilian home favourite to win by a clear body length.

He was neck and neck with Britain's Andrew Mullen over the first 15m but he found a second gear to pull clear and secure his fourth gold medal in 35.40 seconds.

The crowd in the aquatics centre really adore this man as he splashes the water in celebration to a booming echo of cheers from his home crowd.

And who could blame them when Dias is leading his country's success? He now has 21 medals and 14 of them are gold. Amazing effort.

    BBC Radio 5 live

Hannah Russell won bronze in the 100m freestyle S13, and on Saturday will race in the 50m freestyle S12 heats.

She said on BBC Radio 5 live: "I was hoping to go a bit quicker. But a bronze is a bronze and I should be happy.

"I've been told that if I'd swum my personal best I'd have won gold. It's quite hard to hear. I have to see where I can improve.

"I've been focusing on myself I didn't acknowledge what the others were doing. I enjoy the competition going up a class. It's a good battle between all of us.

"Whatever happens tomorrow, as long as I do a personal best I'll be happy with that. That's my aim."

It is bad news for Great Britain's Richard Chiassaro in the men's 100m T54 heats.

He could only come third in his heat, missing out on automatic qualification. He had to wait to see if he was one of two fastest losers, but he wasn't so misses out on a spot in the final.

Daniel Dias came into the Paralympics and was expected to be one of the stars of the Brazilian team. And he has certainly not let anyone down.

He has won two gold medals, three silvers and a bronze already. He is hoping to add to that tally tonight in the men's 50m backstroke S5 final. Great Britain's Andrew Mullen is one of the swimmers hoping to deny him.

Want to know Dias' overall Paralympic record? Check this out and be amazed.

    Gold: 12.

    Silver: Six.

    Bronze: Two.

Total: 20. Yes, that is TWENTY Paralympic medals in his career. Outstanding.

Unfortunately for her she didn't go as fast as she did this morning. She really needed to up her game this evening.

What's happening is they're trying too hard in the morning to get those good positions. And then they're quite exhausted.

Great Britain's Hannah Russell, a bronze medallist in the women's S13 100m freestyle, tells Channel 4: "I was happy with that performance, there was a false start at the beginning and I had to compose myself.

"It is hard but you have to expect these things to happen so you have to be mentally prepared.

"Tomorrow I have the 50 freestyle and I enjoy that so hopefully I will finish on a high."

    Women's S13 100m freestyle

That was a fast start from Britain's Hannah Russell but perhaps it was too quick as she falls back into third to claim a bronze medal.

The 20 year-old was first at the turn after a phenomenal start to be stroke for stroke with world record holder Anna Stetsenko.

And it's Stetsenko who finds that extra breath to touch the wall first in 59.19 seconds and American Rebecca Meyers follows to take second.

Russell holds on to ensure a podium finish adding a bronze medal to the gold she won in the 100m backstroke earlier this week.

David Smith, a bronze and silver medallist in 2012, won BC1 mixed individual boccia gold earlier today after beating Dutchman Daniel Perez.

Smith said on BBC Radio 5 live: "It was a bit surreal and the standard of the sport is ridiculous. The crowd were adding to that as well.

"The energy I’ve put in to stay above water is amazing. Yesterday was a huge test as I had the world number one in the quarter-final and I'm not sure how I came out of that.

"Today I was a bit more relaxed because I knew I had the medal in the bag. I did what I needed to do. The game wasn’t as good as I expected. I wanted to score more points but 5-0 will do."

    A golden double for Hannah Russell?published at 23:26 BST 16 September 2016

    Paralympic swimming: Women's S13 100m freestyle (23:31 BST)

Hannah Russell has already made a good splash in Rio with a world record and a gold medal to her name in the S12 100m backstroke.

And she's not far off a repeat performance in the S13 category after clocking almost 60 seconds dead in this morning's heat.

But she will face tough compeition from Ukraine's Anna Stetsenko, who is the world record holder at 58.05 seconds, and the USA's Rebecca Meyers, who has three gold medals on her bedside table.

But Russell won't care about those stats because before Rio, she set herself a target of a golden double. And she has the chance to fulfill that promise next.

    BBC Radio 5 live

Britain's Dan Greaves won a bronze medal earlier in the F44 and he says he wanted to throw better but he's delighted that he'll be going home with a medal and a Rio mascot toy named Tom.

He told BBC Radio 5 live: "I've been throwing 62 or 63 metres all week so I'm a bit disappointed I didn't throw better tonight.

"But it's whoever performs on the day and I just wanted to medal, get a Tom (Rio mascot) and go home."

"That's all I wanted. I threw for a Tom. I got one so I'm happy."

Britain's Dan Greaves won bronze in the men's discus throw F44 final, making it a fifth medal in as many Paralympic games.

Greaves said on BBC Radio 5 live: "I can't quite believe it. I came into the competition ranked fourth. I knew my capabilities and I knew I could push the guys.

"It's my best-ever Paralympic performance this throw of 59.57m. I would have liked to push the 60m barrier. But it was a great competition, the crowd were electric. Hopefully they enjoyed it."

'Weir has not let his country down'published at 23:16 BST 16 September 2016

    GB missed 4x400m final qualification

    Tanni Grey-Thompson
11-time Paralympic champion on BBC Radio 5 live

Earlier today, GB's 4x400m T53/54 quartet of David Weir, Moatez Jomni, Nathan Maguire, and Richard Chiassaro missed qualification for the final, with the athletes seemingly unsure at the time about the required benchmark

I don't think we are any clearer about what happened. British Athletics said the athletes knew what they had to do. But when they came off they thought they'd done enough.

What they had to do was absolutely win the second heat to guarantee it. It's not the easiest to work out lap times. The changeovers make it complicated. It's really disappointing.

The upsetting bit is Dave's statement where he feels he's let his country down. I don't believe it. I've never seen him do anything but 100%. It's not the way anybody would have wanted him to end his career at Paralympic level.

David Weir, who announced his retirement from the track after Rio 2016, has not won a medal at this Paralympics, but has one last chance in the men's T54 marathon on Sunday.

Men's 200m individual medley - SM6 gold-medal winning swimmer Sascha Kindred, speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, says: "Weir is a national treasure. It didn’t come together for him in Rio.

"Whatever he decides to do next, I'm sure he'll raise his performance in the marathon. Everyone will remember him for the success he’s had over the years."

Another gold for Great Britain. That is number 57.

And it comes in the archery as John Walker defeats David Drahoninsky of the Czech Republic 141-139 in the final of the men's individual W1 event.

Walker, 42 was inspired to take up archery after seeing the USA’s armless archer Matt Stutzman in action at London 2012.

The Brit, whose nickname is 'Whiskey', won individual silver medal at the 2015 world championships and also has another chance of Rio glory as he will be in the team event later this weekend.

Four years ago they won five golds, five silvers and one bronze, in Rio they secured seven gold and four silver medals.

The squad - from left to right - of Lee Pearson, Sophie Wells, Natasha Baker, Anne Dunham and Sophie Christiansen have certainly done their bit towards helping ParalympicsGB achieve their target of 121 medals in Rio.
