    Stadium

Fair to say the Rio 2016 athletics venue has 'moved on a bit' since I was last here to check on preparations for the Games early last year.

Although there was so much work still to be done back then we knew the João Havelange stadium would be an impressive venue so long as budget cuts didn't too hard - and it looks amazing!

We've already seem some great GB performances here this week - but will we be seeing more medals today? Georgie Hermitage, Stephen Osborne and Hollie Arnold are amongst the ones to look out for in the next few hours.

West Ham's new home, London's £700m Olympic Stadium, cannot have an immediate police presence following recent trouble - because there is no satisfactory radio system across the ground.

The Hammers asked E20, which owns the club's London Stadium home, to ensure there is a police presence in the ground after unsavoury incidents involving their fans in the past three matches.

But the Metropolitan Police say the stadium operators are responsible for dealing with "disorderly behaviour that has not reached the level of criminality".

"The MPS is not able to provide Special Policing Services at this time as it would normally, as there is no satisfactory radio system across the ground," said deputy assistant commissioner Peter Terry.

    Tanni

The BBC 5 Live athletics team arrived early at the stadium today and there was time for a quick check out of the track.

And that meant 11-time Paralympic champion Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson had the chance to re-live the glory days!

"I'd quite fancy a warm-up around this track, but perhaps not a full race these days," she says with a smile.

The current British athletes get underway this morning at 14:03 BST with the men's F32 club throw final featuring Stephen Miller, with Georgie Hermitage in T37 400m action.

Tottenham beat Monaco 4-1 in the Europa League group stages last season.

England and Spurs midfielder Eric Dier said: "It helps us that we know Monaco having played them last season, but this will be a different match and it's difficult to compare.

"This is the highest level of football and everyone is excited. It's a great challenge and we all want to take that challenge."

Crawley Cox-less until Januarypublished at 12:50

    Football

League Two side Crawley Town sign Dean Cox - but he can't play until January.

The 29-year-old winger left Leyton Orient at the beginning of the month after six years at Brisbane Road, in which he scored 59 goals in 275 appearances.

He has agreed a contract with the Reds until the end of the 2018-19 season.

However, because Cox left Orient after the transfer window closed, he will not be able to make his debut for Crawley until 2 January 2017.
