Isack Hadjar called into say he had problems with his engine, so the Frenchman comes into the Red Bull garage, receives some TLC and heads back out in P22.
George Russell is leading but after he may have used up all his juice, as Lando Norris is edging closer to his Mercedes. Kimi Antonelli is also bruised and struggling, so Lewis Hamilton thinks this might be a good time to hustle the 19-year-old for third place.

What they have done in all of that is hand a gift to Lando Norris and to Lewis Hamilton and the closing pack. They were out in front, they were unchallenged, they had the race to themselves. A short sprint could have run it to the flag and brought a one-two but Kimi had other ideas.
Pete Bonnington and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff are on the radio to calm Kimi Antonelli down. The teenager is fuming with his team-mate George Russell - he doesn't think the bout was a fair one.

The fight is on between the Mercedes team-mates. Kimi Antonelli and George Russell are grappling in the first sector and the Italian ends up running off the track trying to take P1 from his Brit Russell.
Later in the lap, Antonelli comes steaming across the grass as the pair scrap again. That moment allows Lando Norris to come throuhgg and take second place.

Kimi Antonelli is a young fighter, he is a racer. Desperate for ins, desperate for winning positions. He loves to get in amongst it and he is not going to give this one up so George has got a lot on his plate, he has to keep his eyes on the mirror because Kimi Antonelli will be there until the end of the sprint race.

Isack Hadjar tells Red Bull he has engine problems but in the battle for the lead, Kimi Antonelli is creeping up on George Russell. He gets closer and closer to Russell towards the end of the lap and should be able to pounce heading into the first corner.
The Mercedes upgrade is doing its job for George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, as the two drivers start to pull away from the chasing pack. This will become a two-man fight very soon.

Mercedes in that team will be very happy, Russell also, Antonelli had to be very defensive against those two fast starting McLarens. He did a good job keeping them behind and behind them, that very fast start Ferrari in the hands of Lewis Hamilton that has done well off the line this year, made best use of that. This is a circuit Lewis Hamilton loves.
Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar stay in the final points places in seventh and eighth, as George Russell clocks the fastest lap out in front.
Charles Leclerc has also held position off the line and has stayed in sixth.

Kimi Antonelli is the man George Russell will be very aware is right behind him. He's got a lot on his plate right now, a fast starting McLaren right behind him, his teammate alongside him. This can go any which way.
Lance Stroll is on track but the Canadian has been noted for a start infringement.
George Russell leads from Kimi Antonelli, with Lando Norris 2.6 seconds behind the Mercedes duo in third place. Lewis Hamilton has gained a spot and another point in fourth.

The top eight drivers are all starting on the medium compound for the shorter sprint, with rookie Arvid Lindblad in ninth opting for a set of hards.
A couple of drivers have taken on the soft tyre, but update for you: Liam Lawson is not starting from the pit lane, so just the four drivers off the grid for lights out.
Mercedes, heavy on the upgrades this weekend in Montreal and locking out the front of the sprint, are 70 points free of second-placed Ferrari in the constructors' standings, with defending champions McLaren 86 points behind in third.
Red Bull have jumped up a couple of places after the Miami Grand Prix last time out and are seven points ahead of Alpine in fifth.
