Lap 40/56
Charles Leclerc does have the energy to catch his team-mate Lewis Hamilton and overtake the seven-time title winner as we reach lap 40 of 56. But that move has drained the battery of the Monegasque driver and now Hamilton spies his moment to pounce.
Hamilton is back into P3, while Leclerc drops down again to P4.
Ferrari can't afford for their two drivers to take each other out of the running, so for now, Charles Leclerc keeps fourth spot and Lewis Hamilton stays in that final podium place in third. Kimi Antonelli and George Russell are doing their own thing in first and second.
Alex: the race has been so interesting this far, new regulations are taking shape
Becci: These new reg changes have certainly shaken things up! Exciting for us viewers but frustrating for teams who are struggling to get to grips with them! Would love a Kimi win today!

Lap 36/56
The seven-time world champion might not need that extra boost. Charles Leclerc locks up and that allows Lewis Hamilton to make his move to swipe third place away from the Monegasque driver. The two Ferraris scrap with each other once again but Hamilton stays clear in P3.
George Russell is very slowly eating into Kimi Antonelli's lead, it's gone from nine seconds to 7.4 seconds. That's nowhere near enough to catch before the end of the race, so I think we're looking at a pretty stable situation now between the two Mercedes drivers.
Lewis Hamilton is telling his pit wall he needs more power from his Ferrari battery as he tries to hunt down his team-mate Charles Leclerc for this final podium place in Shanghai.

That was messy between the two of them. Esteban Ocon goes wide on the entry and then goes for the cut back and I don't think Franco Colaptino was expecting it.
Esteban Ocon comes to see Haas for a tyre swap, taking on the medium compound. Franco Colapinto also heads in to pit and as he comes out to rejoin the action, the two drivers make contact at Turn One. Ocon calls in to his pit wall and says the collision was his fault.
Lenard: Antonelli has worked so hard this year. If he wins today, he fully deserves it...
Dave: It's only the second race of the biggest regs change in decades in F1 and people are complaining. Were they complaining between 2022 and 2024 when we had a dominant car winning almost every race?
Let things settle, let the teams master the regs and we'll see.
'Russell has to find some serious pace'published at 08:00 GMT 15 March

Kimi Antonelli is basically eight seconds ahead now. If George Russell wants to get ahead and try and win this race, he's got to find some serious pace and get his foot down.
Behind the front four we have the Haas of Oliver Bearman and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. Anyone who started on the hards are making their way into the pits now for a tyre change.
While George Russell and the Ferraris have been arguing over positions, 19-year-old Kimi Antonelli has been building a gap over seven seconds out in front. The Italian adds a fastest lap to his name, as the gap increases to eight seconds.
Tom: I'm not a purist but all the moaners about the changes, how can you say this is not exciting. Brilliant commentary.
Chris: Loving all the overtaking! F1 has certainly become more exciting with the new changes this year!
Gandalf: This is racing like it used to be, you'll need an Ayrton Senna to take a gamble and overtake, who is the Senna of new, is it Leclerc? Simply exhilarating.
The fastest laps are being banked by the Mercedes of George Russell and as he reaches the long back straight in Shanghai, the chance to boos past Charles Leclerc is here. Russell is now P2 and Leclerc is in the final podium spot in third.
