Ferrari are always good in Monaco; it's something to do with the way they design their cars. This particular year's car is good in the corners and not so good on the straights where its engine is lacking power. And this is the track where power is least important in overall lap time.

It's not very busy out on the Monaco circuit. Just six drivers out there at the moment.

Lewis Hamilton was fastest for a short while but here comes Charles Leclerc.

The Monegasque has set a lap time of 1:15.184.

You can afford a little knock, like we saw in FP1 and FP2 - you can get away with a little bit of repair work overnight - but you can't do that really in FP3. You really do have to stay out of trouble.

But at the same time, you need to start to get a comfortable feel for your car because you are going to be thrown into Formula 1 qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix this afternoon - and you better had be on top form and have a car that you can trust.

Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari led the way in Friday practice at the Monaco Grand Prix but his team-mate Charles Leclerc expects "a tight qualifying" between them, Red Bull and Mercedes.

Ferrari achieved a one-two in both sessions, Hamilton leading Leclerc by 0.111 seconds in the second to end the day fastest after the positions were reversed in the first.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen was third fastest in both, followed by the Mercedes drivers, with George Russell ending the day fourth fastest and 0.124secs quicker than championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

Title leader Antonelli was complaining about the car feeling unpredictable in the middle sector of the lap, the section from Mirabeau to Tabac including the harbour-front chicane.

Red Bull's Isack Hadjar recovered well from a crash in first practice to set sixth fastest time, ahead of the McLaren of Oscar Piastri, whose team appeared to be struggling through the day.

Team-mate Lando Norris, who won this race last year on his way to a first world title, stopped on track with a technical problem early in the session and ended up 19th fastest.

Audi's Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto were best of the rest after the top four teams, with Haas driver Oliver Bearman completing the top 10.
