Constructors' leaders Mercedes are light on updates for round four but Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari have all brought significant upgrade packages to the Miami Grand Prix weekend.

Max Verstappen said "there's light at the end of the tunnel" following Red Bull's difficult start to the campaign. The Dutchman had been lagging behind his rivals in the opening races, saying he felt "like a total passenger" in the unreliable car. But yesterday, he was only 0.166 seconds off Kimi Antonelli's pole time and will line-up alongside the 19-year-old in second place.

"To be on the front row after being over a second behind is really incredible. It's massive," Verstappen said.

Max: Where’s the option for Leclerc to lead after the first corner? Ferrari has been a rocketship off the start this season and Antonelli and Verstappen have had many poor starts.

Max, I'm going to make your entry the Charles Leclerc option. Click the up thumb if you think the Ferrari man from third will be ahead at the first corner.

Isack Hadjar was downcast as he walked into the wet Miami paddock earlier on.

The Frenchman has been questioning his upgraded car's performance all weekend and he was set to line up ninth on today's grid, seven places away from his Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen.

Hadjar now finds himself starting from the pit lane after being excluded from qualifying for a technical infringement. Red Bull changed power-unit components under parc ferme conditions and were called to see the stewards after qualifying following an inspection of the 21-year-old's car.

With Hadjar's demotion, Pierre Gasly moves up to ninth and Audi's Nico Hulkenberg, who's notched a few P11 qualifying spots this season, now starts P10.

Taking the possible grim weather out of the equation for just a moment, Kimi Antonelli already has a tough job on his hands to keep four-time world champion Max Verstappen at bay at lights out.

The Mercedes driver struggled once again off the line in yesterday's sprint, falling down the order from his front-row starting position. The pace of the Mercedes so far this season has meant Antonelli has been able to recover from his sluggish getaways. Today, however, if the track is wet, he's up against the one of the best drivers in the rain.

The sun was shining and the temperatures were sizzling yesterday when Kimi Antonelli secured his third pole position in four grands prix this season.

It was an eventful Saturday for the Italian teenager, as he was also handed a five-second penalty in the sprint race for exceeding track limits. That dropped him from fourth to sixth but he still holds a seven-point lead over Mercedes team-mate George Russell in the drivers' championship.

Antonelli took pole with his first run in Q3 and after a little mistake on his last attempt, he then had to watch four-time world champion Max Verstappen challenge for the top spot.

"I got a little bit excited on the final lap of Q3 but the first lap was good enough. I was very stressed just waiting for everyone to finish their laps," he said.

The decision to bring the race forward by three hours was predicated on the belief that the worst weather of the day is expected from about 3pm local time - an hour before the race was due to start. That remains the forecast.

There were thunderstorms overnight, and heavy rain as I was driving into the circuit for breakfast, but the morning has become progressively drier, and no rain was expected before 12:00 or so - 17:00 BST. However, as much as it’s possible to be certain about anything to do with the weather, everyone agrees that rain is almost guaranteed. It’s just a question of when it starts, how long it continues, and how heavy it is.

Hello, folks. We're having to meet up three hours earlier than scheduled because of the threat of bad weather in Miami today.

There are plenty of videos doing the rounds on social media of dark skies and thunderstorms over the Hard Rock Stadium earlier on, and according to the official FIA forecast: "Numerous episodes of rain and thunderstorms are expected at the circuit as a front stalls over south Florida."

However, the paddock is dry and bright right now, so who knows what's going to happen.

The new start time for the Miami Grand Prix is 18:00 BST, which is 1pm local time, but if the heavy weather arrives again, we could be in for a long afternoon/night.

Kimi Antonelli will lead the pack off the line from pole position after beating out Red Bull's Max Verstappen and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc to claim his third consecutive pole this season.
