  1. 'Chaotic and hectic'published at 20:15 GMT 20 December 2025

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to Sky Sports: "The thing in football is you always remember the last few minutes and they were the worst minutes of our total game.

"If I can calm down a little bit and erase that from my memory I think there is a lot to like in our performance. I've stood here many, many times and liked the performance a lot and we were unable to get the three points.

"Now, for a large part, I liked the performance and we have the three points."

Why was it such a nervy ending? "We didn't keep the ball when we had the ball. We kicked it away, they got a few free-kicks, a few throw-ins, corners. It became very chaotic and hectic.

"Overall, we had good control over the game. Six games unbeaten, four wins and two draws. We are definitely not perfect yet but both of our number nines scored. Again, positives to take from the game.

"In the Premier League there is never a game that is boring. If the other team goes down to 10 then wingers are very important. Jeremie (Frimpong) is the one who created 2-0 with his actions."

Dwight McNeil's corner misses absolutely everyone. David Moyes is incredibly frustrated.

That's a couple of opportunities from set pieces that Everton have had a chance to fashion something and they've been unable to really test David Raya in the Arsenal goal.

Marc Guehi and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are invited back on to the pitch after both teams were temporarily reduced to 10 men. Looks like the Leeds striker might have a bit of a bump on his forehead.

Crystal Palace appear to have woken up now but Lucas Perri catches a cross unchallenged.

  5. 'The game is gone if that's a red card'published at 20:13 GMT 20 December 2025

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "First and foremost I'm extremely proud of the players and the team. I think they gave everything and showed unbelievable mentality and worked very hard on how to deal with setbacks.

"The way they responded to several setbacks was immense. The first one is the first red, which I think... I've seen it given before but I don't like it. I don't like those types of red cards because I think the game is gone if that's a red card. I don't think it's reckless tackle. I don't think it's exceptional force. We have the referee call and that was a yellow so that's why I don't think that's a red.

"We dealt well with that. The players stayed in the game, defended well, kept going. Then we concede the first goal, and then the second one is a big mistake. Two hands in the back from the striker - as far as I know the laws of football you are not allowed to do that. That's fine to happen on the pitch, the referees are only human but then the VAR bails you out, which they didn't do.

"We stayed in the game, kept going, scored a very good goal for 2-1 and keep fighting. Then I think the second yellow to Cuti [Romero], you have a little feel of the game. Two big boys fighting, Konate is going through him and his foot lands on his head, no yellow. Then there's a little movement from Cuti but I don't think it's a second yellow when you feel the game. We stayed there and did well in terms of dealing with it."

    Everton 0-0 Arsenal

The corner is cleared by William Saliba but David Raya is saying he was fouled in there. The referee's having none of it and Everton win a throw-in which results in another corner for the hosts.

  7. Postpublished at 20:12 GMT 20 December 2025

    Everton 0-0 Arsenal

Almost a brilliant spot by Leandro Trossard but his through ball can only find a blue shirt and the hosts are able to enjoy a bit of possession.

The ball is lumped forward by Everton and William Saliba takes a heavy touch which sends it behind for a corner.

Dominic Calvert Lewin collides in the air with Marc Guehi, and both players are down and requiring a bit of treatment here.

Crystal Palace skipper Guehi looks slightly dazed but rises back to his feet, however Calvert-Lewin needs a little bit longer.

This will be a concern for Daniel Farke...

Arsenal have to take all three points away from Merseyside to sit top of the tree at Christmas.

It might not seem like much, there would still only be two points between them and Manchester City, but psychologically it's huge.

    Leeds 0-0 Crystal Palace

The linesman flags for an offside against Jayden Bogle. He just mistimes his run to meet a direct ball up the pitch - but it's another show of Leeds' intent in these early stages.

Crystal Palace are yet to get going at all here.

  13. 'We need a few more wins to get a bit more comfortable'published at 20:05 GMT 20 December 2025

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Three points away at Spurs is very nice. it is a difficult stadium to go to, a good team to play against. Of course they lost last week so today they wanted to make it up in front of their fans. For us the aim was to win again because we need wins to let the league table look better for us and eventually that's what we did."

On Isak's injury: "We'll have to wait and see. It is too short after the game to speak about it but it is never good when a player has to come off. I took Frimpong off because I did not want to be with ten men, so that injury is fine. The other two [Isak and Bradley] we'll have to wait and see. The good thing is that we have a week to go so hopefully we have enough players available to play next week again.

On having the same feeling as Elland Road: "It was eleven v eleven there but we had nine minutes added again there. I think here that was completely fine with the injury treatments, VAR, so I can't complain at all about he nine minutes. They were close. They came close a few times.

"It's unbelievable if you play against nine men that I would not be surprised if for the nine minutes they had the ball for eight and half. That is not what you expect and maybe that tells you where we are in this season. We need a few more wins to get a bit more comfortable with setbacks. The thing that keeps in your mind is the last ten minutes but there was a lot more to like in the first 80-90 minutes."

The Leeds United fans are in fine voice as they hope to inspire their side to a massive three points this evening.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored five goals in his 13 Premier League games against Crystal Palace. He's only netted more against Newcastle (six).

The 28-year-old could become just the fourth Leeds player to score in five consecutive Premier League appearances – and first since Mark Viduka in 2003.

Looking at the first half of the season Arsenal's only disappointment will be that they are not further ahead at this stage. At one point they looked so good, impenetrable, their squad depth... And they've just come off it a little bit.
