    Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

This is so void of entertainment that Jonathan Pearce is now talking about the Regis le Bris Santa hats that some of Sunderland's travelling fans are wearing.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:41 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Jose Sa keeps Wolves on level terms!

Lewis Potter breaks down the left and has Igor Thiago free in the middle. His attempted cross is blocked, but the ball falls back to him and he cuts inside past the defender.

Lewis-Potter bends a shot towards the bottom corner but Sa gets down quickly to palm the ball away.

It took 39 minutes but at least we've now had a shot on target in this one.

  3. West Ham for the drop?published at 15:40 GMT 20 December 2025

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

    Shamoon Hafez
Football news reporter at Etihad Stadium

Took a while but that is fully deserved for Manchester City.

Great footwork from Rayan Cherki in winning the ball back.

West Ham's heads have dropped, are the team for the drop?

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:39 GMT 20 December 2025

    Bournemouth 0-0 Burnley

A very robust challenge by Zian Flemming on Adrien Truffert, sending the Bournemouth man up into the air. Yellow card for Flemming.

GOAL - Man City 2-0 West Hampublished at 15:39 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tijjani Reijnders (38 mins)

Manchester City have been probing again for the last few minutes and this time they simply walk it into the back of the net.

Rayan Cherki wins the ball back and it's shifted along from Erling Haaland to Tijjani Reijnders, who finishes well from a few yards out.

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Stretched? Gianluigi Donnarumma has touched the ball seven times. Each one simply to pass back out to his defenders.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:38 GMT 20 December 2025

    Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

Another dodgy challenge by Diego Coppola - this time on Enzo Le Fee.

This time referee Darren England decides to book Brighton's Italian defender, who escaped a caution earlier for a late tackle on Brian Brobbey.

  8. Postpublished at 15:37 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Brentford produce a well-worked free-kick routine but Wolves clear for a throw in.

Michael Kayode's throw is cleared, Rico Henry hooks the ball back into the box but Nathan Collins can't quite latch onto it and Jose Sa collects.

This has been a very scrappy first half.

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Man City have not had too many concerns and Donnarumma has not been stretched in any way.

But considering the way the first 15 minutes went, Nuno will be pleased to get to half-time at 1-0 down.

  10. Postpublished at 15:37 GMT 20 December 2025

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Manchester City continue to probe after West Ham fail to clear their lines.

It results in a shot from Tijjani Reijnders, who strikes low and hard but Alphone Areola springs to his right to parry away. Luckily for him it falls to his team-mate, who heads away.

  11. 'Brighton have a good record in the second half''published at 15:34 GMT 20 December 2025

    Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

    Daniel Gabbidon
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Amex Stadium

I'm keeping the faith that it won't be 0-0 because of Brighton's good record in the second half of games.

  12. 'West Ham slowing City down'published at 15:34 GMT 20 December 2025

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

West Ham have really slowed the tempo of Man City down. They have got in the way and have been much better in terms of possession of the ball which has helped them out.

  13. Postpublished at 15:34 GMT 20 December 2025

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

It's been slightly better from West Ham in terms of managing to get hold of the ball but they are yet to have a single shot and have had just one touch in their opponent's box in 35 minutes.

  14. 'A bit dull'published at 15:34 GMT 20 December 2025

    Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

    Andy Stevenson
BBC Final Score reporter at Amex Stadium

My notepad is almost as empty a John Bennett's at Molineux.

It feels disjointed which makes sense with both teams making four changes from last week's matches, but yes, a bit dull.

  15. Postpublished at 15:34 GMT 20 December 2025

Half an hour on the clock.

Jonathan Pearce, who is on Match of the Day comms duty, says: "This is as drab as the slate grey skies over the Amex."

    He's being kind.

Call me crazy but can see Wolves first win of the season here. They've started well and Brentford looking a bit shaky!

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Wolves have a free-kick right on the very edge of the Brentford penalty area as Rico Henry brings down Fer Lopez.

For a moment it wasn't clear whether the foul was inside the box or not, but a free-kick is the correct call.

Andre's effort slams into the wall before Matt Doherty's long range follow up is also blocked.

  18. 'Sunderland are a throwback'published at 15:31 GMT 20 December 2025

    Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

    Daniel Gabbidon
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Amex Stadium

I like how Sunderland have come into this season. It's almost like a throwback to how promoted sides used to play and be defensively solid.

They're solid at home and you see newly promoted sides now wanting to play and keep possession then find it difficult.

Bournemouth really knocking it around here - would be typical to keep missing these chances and allow Burnley to nick something.
