  2. How does the play-off draw work?published at 22:32 GMT 28 January

So, who will face who in the play-offs?

Clubs are paired together based on where they finish at the end of the league phase to form seeded and unseeded pairs.

The teams that finish ninth to 16th are the seeded pairs, while 17th to 24th are unseeded pairs.

The seeded pair is drawn against an unseeded pair. For example, the ninth and 10th teams will face off against the teams who finished 23rd and 24th.

The seeded team will play the second leg at home.

    FT: Man City 2-0 Galatasaray

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, speaking to TNT Sports: "We are happy, just very happy because we wanted to qualify in the top eight. With a bit of drama, we did it. Overall very happy because we avoid two games. With the schedule it's really important to do that. We need also to recover some players to arrive in the last months of the season."

On the formation today: "We're quite used to the manager playing in different ways so depending on our opponent we always try to find the best way to hurt them. Today we were quite good."

On the goalscorers: "It's really nice for us because it gives them confidence. Hopefully they can keep scoring, keep going."

On Rayan Cherki: "He's a special talent in terms of how much he can create in the final third especially. He's young, willing to learn and a good kid so we're happy to have him with us."

On the importance of avoiding the playoffs: "With the schedule, with the amount of injuries we have at the minute, to have those two full weeks to prepare the team, to recover some players, to focus on other competiitons for now is going to be really good."

On playing against Ilkay Gundogan: "Gundo and Leroy [Sane] are like brothers because the memories we have together are truly special. It's always nice to see these guys. It's nice to have them here at home. It's their place a little even if they already left and I hope they feel that way as well."
