Newcastle started the day in 14th but will end it in 10th.

It's now eight wins out of eight for the Magpies against Burnley.

After racing into a 2-0 lead, it was an uncomfortable night for Eddie Howe's side at times but they got the job done.

    Played: 38

    Won: 18

  4. 'We defended very well as a team'published at 21:37 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Everton

    Everton

Everton midfielder James Garner speaking to Sky Sports: "We knew it was going to be tough here, we have a lot of injuries, a couple of the lads have gone to Afcon, so we were a bit short.

"To keep a clean sheet [was the key] and we defended very well as a team. We've not been great this season at keeping the ball out of our net. We were on the back foot for the majority of the game so the message was as soon as we get the ball back let's be clean. We were very clinical.

"Some of the lads were making their first starts of the season, players are coming back from injury, that's massively important now for the second half of the season.

"It was three games without a goal, so to get two away from home is massive and we can hopefully take that into our home game at the weekend and score a few more."

Wolves almost go ahead and Ladislav Krejci almost gets his second of the night!

He hits it really well and Senne Lammens parries away before Yerson Mosquera tries to stab home the rebound but the United goalkeeper just about does enough to prevent it finding the net.

Villa can't deal with the set pieces. They brought off one of their best headers of the ball in Onana and every time the ball comes into the box it's chaos.

I don't buy Amorim's reason for sticking to his system until now. I think he just thought tonight would be a banker and the best time to slip in the change.

    Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on Sky Sports

Chelsea fans turning up this evening would've been thinking about what a chance they had against an out-of-form Bournemouth.

They would've wanted to go and get three points to build their confidence.

A really disappointing point for Enzo Maresca, but a much better point for Andoni Iraola.
