Arsenal v Aston Villa (20:15 GMT)

A proper title showdown at the Emirates later as leaders Arsenal host Aston Villa, who sit just three points behind them almost halfway into the season.

If Villa were to win 6-0 they would go top but we *probably* don't have to worry too much about that tonight.

It’s between Semenyo, Wirtz and Calvert-Lewin for me. Go with your gut and bench Semenyo! I hope it works out for you Paul.

Hi Holly - benching dilemma. One of Haaland, Ekitike, Calvert-Lewin, Cherki, Foden, Rogers, Wirtz and Semenyo. Nice problem to have but thinking maybe Semenyo v Chelsea?

Actually, we have time for another question. Lucky you!

  8. 'I'd go with Calvert-Lewin'published at 17:57 GMT 30 December 2025

I’d go with Calvert-Lewin here. He has the form and he’s on penalties. Despite the addition of defensive contribution points this season, I’m still a big fan of the more attacking 343 and 352 formations. The trip to Nottingham Forest won’t be easy for Everton.

Selection headache, should I play 3-4-3 with Calvert-Lewin or switch to 4-4-2 with Keane instead?

    Time for one more question.

  12. 'I'd hold onto Semenyo'published at 17:54 GMT 30 December 2025

Very good question! You would have four Manchester City players once the transfer had been confirmed, but you would be required with your next transfer made to sell a Manchester City player, reducing the tally to three in your squad.

I’d happily hold Semenyo this week though and cross that bridge when you come to it!

What happens if Semenyo completes his transfer from Bournemouth to Man City if you already have three City players?

I think Rogers is a great differential this week, Aston Villa are in excellent form and will give Arsenal a tough game. However, I wouldn’t use the armband on him, especially with options like Haaland and Ekitike in your side, who have more favourable fixtures.

I have Ekitike and Haaland up top. BUT is it totally mad to captain Rogers? (I'm considering this even as an Arsenal fan!!)

Rice is reportedly out of this game, so that might swing things here. Use a substitute or reorder your bench if needs be. I think it’s fine to play Rogers and Watkins in this fixture, I expect them to perform well. Timber is a minutes risk anyway, so could be benched for another defender if you have other options.

I've got Timber/Rice for Arsenal and Rogers/Watkins for Villa. Should I just play Villa players and hope they win or put Timber and Rice in in case they play?

Szoboszlai is the one for me. Liverpool seem to have a good balance of form and fixtures right now, with Szoboszlai central to that. He scored against Leeds United earlier this month and should be on penalties in Salah’s absence.

Need a midfielder to replace Minteh, but unfortunately can’t afford Cunha. Would you go for Schade, Szoboszlai, Neto or somebody else?
