    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

Not many Chelsea fans will have expected that first half to end goalless, especially because the Blues have scored in the first half of every Champions League game they have played this season.

They've had plenty of possession but need that bit more from their forwards.

Considering the tifo before kick off, that meme of the Beatles defending a free kick comes to mind after Szoboszlai's goal.

Hugo Ekitike feeds Florian Wirtz with a decent ball in the box. Wirtz needs to shoot first time but he ponders and his effort is charged down.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:09 GMT 21 January

    Marseille 0-1 Liverpool

A really unnecessary yellow card for Benjamin Pavard to pick up. He gives Milos Kerkez a shove in the back for nothing.

Say what you like about Salah, but Liverpool just look like a completely different force when he's playing

Wonder what we'll get from Marseille now they're behind. They offered next to nothing in attack in the first half.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:07 GMT 21 January

    Newcastle 2-0 PSV

Newcastle get the second half under way.

As things stand they are through to the knockout play-off round at the very least.

Popular opinion: Even with a no.9 on the pitch, we (CFC) still look like a team without a striker. Completely underwhelmed. Need to get out of neutral gear!

Away we go for the second half.

    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

For a second Pafos appear to be in as Ken Sema gets the better of Wesley Fofana on the left to get into the box, but Fofana recovers well to pinch the ball back before Sema can shoot.

The key things for Liverpool tonight have been their press and their shape - a kind of 4-2-2-2 with the full-backs providing their width.

That shape is how Slot has accommodated Salah, with players behind him, but Slot has put plenty of other players in positions that help them too.

Salah is still helping with the press, which has been very effective at stopping Marseille from playing out the way they want to, but he is not being asked to get up and down the right flank to help Frimpong, so there is less defensive responsibility on him.

Off we go with the second half at Stamford Bridge.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:03 GMT 21 January

    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

A couple of changes for Chelsea before the start of the second half.

Filip Jörgensen must have picked up an injury as he is replaced in goal by Robert Sanchez, while Estêvão comes on for Reece James.

It's a moment of genius from Dominik Szoboszlai. He's completely bamboozled the Marseille wall and Liverpool go into the break well worth their lead.

Szoboszlai had quite the last 10 days from scoring against Barnsley then making a mistake before missing a penalty against Burnley on the weekend.

But that's another timely reminder of his quality. A great goal.

Liverpool deserved their goal. They've been very good so far.

They have definitely looked at what Marseille's wall does at free-kicks - jumping, with no draught-excluder - beforehand.

They have been so good technically. Right now, Newcastle are totally in the driving seat, but the last thing they want to do is be complacent and give PSV a glimmer of hope.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:53 GMT 21 January

    Newcastle 2-0 PSV

So far, so good for Newcastle as they lead 2-0 at the break - a score that has them currently in the top eight.

A little bit of pressure from PSV as half-time approaches, with Paul Wanner forcing a save out of Nick Pope for the first time.

Liverpool deserve this. They've been excellent but real quality from Szoboszlai - the wall jumps and he goes underneath it. Really clever from Szoboszlai to even think of it.
