Ayaka Yamashita tips over an Erin Cuthbert strike that was dipping just beneath the crossbar.

Chelsea put together a flowing team move there.

As if to prove Emma's point, City attack through a quick transition from back to front, but Millie Bright is there to halt the advance of Kerolin just as she was about to pull the trigger.

Kerolin and Lauren Hemp have been hanging up really high on Chelsea corners so Ellie Carpenter keeps being instructed by staff to hang back deep to keep an eye on them. City are devastating on the break.

  4. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

Once again City leave Keira Walsh unmarked outside the box at a corner, and once again she received the pass.

Walsh shoots, but her low effort flashes narrowly wide of the post.

City can't keep giving her that much space.

The swerve on this [shot]. Keira Walsh isn't a prolific goalscorer but this one would have been sweet.

Strong arms from Yamashita to direct it away.

Chelsea are getting a little foot in the game now.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 29 mins

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea play a short corner to Keira Walsh about 25 yards out, and she stings the palms of Ayaka Yamashita with a piledriver. That was dipping na swerving all over the place!

That was a shot from Sandy Baltimore!

She struck the ball right through the laces, gets a little yard on Casparij, drives the ball.

Sandy Baltimore drills a low cross - or was it a shot? - towards the far post and it flashes narrowly wide.

That move started with Keira Walsh playing a probing pass into the space behind City right-back Kerstin Casparij. Virtually all of Chelsea's attacks have started on that side.

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

Erin Cuthbert scurries forward but can't quite find Sandy Baltimore in the box.

Chelsea put in another dangerous low cross, and City just about clear.

City look confident on the ball, but off it they look a bit desperate at times.

Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw look to have worked an opening on the left side of the penalty area, but they try one pass too many, hit a wall and Chelsea recover.

Man City are playing like the dominant team in the head-to-head. They look more confident, their play is more flowing.

Another chance for Chelsea as Erin Cuthbert's strike following a knock down is heroically blocked.

Chelsea are coming on strong, this is a great response to falling behind.

As soon as you start thinking Lauren James hasn't been in the game at all, she does this. What a wonderful ball to find Kaptein in between Rose and Casparij.

Yamashita will be glad to see that one chalked off.

Wieke Kaptein sends a header past Man City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita, just as she did 11 days ago, but the offside flag goes up.

Great cross from Lauren James, but Kaptein made her run a little too early.

It's the perfect start for City. Aside from a strong opening few minutes for Chelsea, it's been all them. Kerolin ran to supporters in the corner with her arms outstretched and the noise in here has gone up another level. It's a crucial, crucial goal.

It's a decent ball from Casparij. It's never dealt with. No one presses down the line. There's a little nick off Baltimore and sloppy, pedestrian defending.

It comes off Ellie Carpenter, who's not had anything go her way.

It's a decent strike. How much have Man City missed Kerolin?

Chelsea were passive. Not the usual aggressors.

    City have the breakthrough!

Chelsea fail to deal with Kerstin Casparij's corner, the ball runs to Kerolin at the edge of the box and she sends a half-volley into the bottom corner, via a slight nick off Ellie Carpenter.

The Brazilian winger has now scored or assisted in each of her last six WSL appearances (four goals and three assists).

She boasts the best minutes per goal involvement rate of any player in the WSL this season

There's a shake of the head from Alex Greenwood because for her standards, that wasn't a great free-kick. It was in the perfect position for one of her trademark, curling deliveries.

Vivianne Miedema touches the free-kick to Alex Greenwood, but the captain's shot is smashed straight into the wall.

The following cross back into the box is cleared.

Casparij wanted it earlier. She'd lost Baltimore and she'd been in space for a good few seconds. She is frustrated.

Lauren Hemp has shown she has the beating of Ellie Carpenter in these opening few exchanges.
