Mikel Arteta mentioned the word 'fire' an awful lot during his pre-match news conference.

Fire? This has been a damp squib in terms of entertainment.

Arsenal not clinical enough at the moment. Sporting defending well. However the more the game stays at this scoreline Sporting will want to open up which inevitably leaves space at the back. Hopefully that can be exploited.

  9. 'Arsenal were massively disappointing'published at 21:00 BST 15 April

William Saliba, since he got into the team, he has been a rock at the back, but he does not look the player he once was.

In the final third Arsenal were massively disappointing. On the odd occasion, Noni Madueke has not been confident enough to go around Maxi Araujo. Martinelli has had one or two crosses, but it is more to do with their combination play. It should be like clockwork.

    Champions League

Sporting have come closest to scoring through Geny Catamo, whose attempt clipped the post.

That was the eighth time the Portuguese champions have hit the woodwork eight times in the Champions League this season, with only Bayern Munich (13) and Benfica (9) doing so more times in the competition.

It is not clicking, and it is not connecting, but this is not a one-off. That would be the worry for Arsenal fans as this is how they have looked up top in recent weeks. I feel they are missing Saka massively - they are not quite the same team. The longer this goes on and if Sporting do get a goal, nothing would surprise you. It is a big half-time team talk from Mikel Arteta.

  12. Goal machine Mbappepublished at 20:55 BST 15 April

HT: Bayern Munich 2-3 Real Madrid (4-4 agg)

Kylian Mbappe is the first player ever to score 10 away goals in a single European Cup/Champions League season.

The French forward has 15 goals this campaign - only Cristiano Ronaldo has ever netted more in a single season of the tournament (17 in 2013-14, 16 in 2015-16).

A very nervy half from Arsenal, who still have plenty to do. You would have to say as an attacking display it was boring, boring Arsenal. Sporting looked the more likely team to score. This is a nervy stadium. It has been a nervous Arsenal performance.

You ask your full-backs to be so aggressive in possession, you give the ball away and turn it over, then you are so vulnerable at the back to Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe. It's so dangerous because they can kill you.

I can't understand - if you are Bayern, and you have full control and are in front, why would you want your full-backs to be so gung-ho at all times. Keep them at home.
