Ipswich Town are in excellent form as they vie for automatic promotion and a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Tractor Boys have won three on the bounce and are unbeaten in their past five games (W4 D1) - a run which has put them within two points of Middlesbrough in second with a game in hand.

Perhaps ominously for tonight's visitors Bristol City, Kieran McKenna's side have also won five on the bounce at Portman Road and have lost just once on home soil all season (W9 D4).

As for the Robins, they have won just one of their previous four matches (D1 L2) and are at risk of seeing their lingering play-off hopes fade.

Gerhard Struber's team are just three points off the top six as things stand but can ill afford to lose too much ground on the rest of the chasing pack.

Coventry City have endured a bit of a wobble in their pursuit of the promised land after 25 years without Premier League football.

It seemed only a matter of when not if promotion would be secured for the Sky Blues when they were 10 points clear but Saturday's vital late win over Leicester was just their third victory in nine games (D3 L3).

Frank Lampard's side are still firmly in the driving seat, six points clear at the summit and eight ahead of third-placed Ipswich, though the Tractor Boys have a game in hand.

Lurking in the shadows are a Millwall side just three points off the top two after a five-game unbeaten run (W3 D2) and keen to avenge the 4-0 thrashing Coventry subjected them to in October.

The Lions are hunting down at least a play-off place and are dreaming of a return to the top flight for the first time since 1990.

Coventry will be hoping to extend their advantage at the top of the Championship before Middlesbrough play tomorrow night, while Ipswich can move into the top two with victory.

Millwall can go level on points with Boro with a win at the league leaders and Hull meet Preston with both looking to strengthen their grip on a play-off spot.

At the other end, Norwich could climb out of the bottom three for the first time since October if they avoid defeat at West Brom, who have been dragged right into the survival scrap.

This week officially began with Blue Monday, the name bestowed by psychologists on the statistically most depressing day of the year.

There is even a real scientific formula behind it, factoring in poor weather, mounting debts, failure of New Year's resolutions, lack of motivation and a rising need to take action.

In fairness, all of those issues, and more, have already been apparent throughout what is turning into one of the most fascinating Championship seasons in memory.

Luckily the EFL schedulers have given us a treat to wash away those blues with a full programme of Championship action across Tuesday and Wednesday night, with a bonus League One encounter to enjoy too.

Take a look at five key things to watch for in this midweek round of fixtures here.
