    Get Involved - Gomez a 'no brainer'published at 14:33 GMT 30 November 2025

So happy Slot is finally using Gomez. In fact, given that Liverpool are conceding so many, I'm surprised he hasn't done that sooner; it seems like a no brainer. That's one thing he needs to take from Klopp: how to better use those players on the fringes.

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are starting to look dangerous - and Alexander Isak is heavily involved. Three attempts by the visitors - one on target.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Wolves

John McGinn comes away with the ball in a dangerous position but referee Chris Kavanagh stops play with Joao Gomes down after a heavy landing.

Safe to say Villa Park isn't too pleased about that decision.

Ryan Gravenberch goes down right on the edge of the penalty area after a challenge by Soungoutou Magassa.

Referee Darren England waves away Liverpool's appeals and play goes on.

    That's an incredible save!

Great delivery by Joe Gomez and the ball bobbles into the path of Alexander Isak who catches it cleanly but Alphonse Areola keeps it out with his hands.

That was easily the best chance of the game.

BBC Sport football news reporter at Villa Park

Wolves fans exploded in delight when Jorgen Strand Larsen's shot hit the back of the net but it was short lived.

Even still, there is encouragement for the visitors that they can take something in this Midlands derby.

Wolves are battling at Villa Park and are giving as good as they get at the moment.

    Finally, some sustained Forest pressure.

The ball comes in from the corner, Igor Jesus makes a nuisance of himself and wins another corner.

Youri Tielemans tests Sam Jonhstone in the Wolves goal from about 20 yards. It's not the cleanest save you'll see but he keeps it out.

    Suppose that's all that matters.

    It's tight and it's cagey.

Almost 20 minutes in and no attempts on target by either side.

That's got to be a bit of a wake-up call for some of these Aston Villa players. That was all far too easy.

The gap between Pau Torres and Lucas Digne was just too big when the ball was played through by Wolves. It got put through the middle of them and then it was cut back to Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was unmarked in the box.

No goal, but it was all too easy from an Aston Villa perspective.

You know when West Ham are going to play well is when Paqueta starts the game well and he has so far. They've been the better team West Ham.

Nice work by Florian Wirtz who tries to square it to Alexander Isak, and El Hadji Malick Diouf is forced to put it behind for a corner.

It's cleared and moments later West Ham go up the other end and force a corner.

How many chances do Brighton need?

They work it really well again to Mats Wieffer on the edge of the box. He takes a touch and goes for the far corner but drags his shot wide.

Yep, check complete. The goal is ruled out but that's a warning sign for Villa.

It was the pace of Jackson Tchatchoua that was too much for Villa there.

Big debate about goalkeepers going down for "tactical injuries" following Leeds United manager Daniel Farke's comments about Manchester City's Gianluigi Donnarumma yesterday.

Deafening jeers from West Ham fans as Liverpool keeper Alisson needs treatment, but that looked genuine enough to me after he collided with his own defender Joe Gomez.

Aston Villa look to be on the front foot here. They are trying to get the ball forward to Donyell Malen, who is full of confidence, and Morgan Rogers.

Wolves are going to have to be very aggressive and make sure they are winning their tackles, which they are doing at the minute.
