[Martin] Odegaard's range of passing and his awareness of where people are, particularly in wide areas is remarkable.

I don't want to get carried away but I am really enjoying Arsenal at the minute.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:37 BST 1 October 2025

    Arsenal 1-0 Olympiacos

Arsenal have a corner - surprisingly their first of the game while Olympiacos have actually had two.

The delivery is flicked on and Gabriel's header is on target, but a defender is in the way.

Phil Foden is causing all sorts of problems in the back line as none of the Monaco players want to defend him.

  4. 'Get Foden on the ball'published at 20:35 BST 1 October 2025

    Monaco 1-1 Man City

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Getting Phil Foden on the ball and playing on the half-turn in the central areas outside the Monaco box is going to be one of the ways for City to break down this defence.

Monaco are playing five at the back and it is not really working for City when they get the ball out wide. It was a great run by Erling Haaland for their goal, but that is the only time the Monaco defence has really been stretched.

You can hear more from Onuoha on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:35 BST 1 October 2025

    Monaco 1-1 Man City

    Ooofff!

Phil Foden makes a clever run then smashes his shot but it clatters off the bar, almost down and across the line but not quite.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:34 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-0 Paris St-Germain

Brilliant run by PSG full-back Nuno Mendes, bursting through the middle of the pitch and it takes a cynical challenge from Frenkie de Jong to stop him.

Yellow card for De Jong and Mendes looks to be in a bit of trouble here. He was caught on the Achilles. Nasty one.

With Liverpool and City looking shaky, who’s to say Arsenal can’t go all the way this year?

    Arsenal 1-0 Olympiacos

Lots of positive noises about Arsenal. They have played some really, really good football in this first half with Martin Odegaard in particular playing some brilliant passes.

The midfielder plays one right now to send Viktor Gyokeres away. The striker has Gabriel Martinelli in support but opts to go for goal himself, but his shot is blocked by a last-ditch challenge.

  9. Postpublished at 20:32 BST 1 October 2025

    Monaco 1-1 Man City

A nice delivery from Rodri finds Bernardo Silva at the back post and the Portuguese tries to nod back across the face of goal for the advancing Erling Haaland or Phil Foden but there's a bit too much on it for either player.

Good save from Wojciech Szczesny to push an Achraf Hakimi free-kick around the post.

The resulting corner is headed out to Vitinha but his volley sails high and wide.

Pains me to say this but Arsenal look imperious this season I could see them doing the big double. I did wonder if Arteta had taken them as far as possible but I think this season could be the one for them.

    Monaco 1-1 Man City

That looked like a really good pass through the lines from Phil Foden but Mohammed Salisu cut it out before it reached Erling Haaland, who would've had a free shot.

Tijjani Reijnders finds himself in space but drags a shot wide.

  13. Postpublished at 20:30 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-0 Paris St-Germain

Dangerous ball in from Lamine Yamal with an in-swinging corner, PSG half clear before Marcus Rashford fires in a shot that is blocked.

Eric Garcia then goes down theatrically as he competes with Illia Zabarnyi but that's never a penalty. Referee Michael Oliver agrees and Paris charge away on the counter.

    Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Athletic Club

This hasn't been the most exciting match but the hosts take the lead as Daniel Svensson fires in at the back post from Karim Adeyemi's cross.

  15. Postpublished at 20:26 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-0 Paris St-Germain

    Oh dear, oh dear.

Big chance for Paris St-Germain as Lamine Yamal trips over his own feet and is caught in possession on the halfway line.

The ball is played through to Bradley Barcola, who has the pace to race away from the defenders.

However, with just the goalkeeper to beat, a horrible second touch sees the ball go out for a goal kick. Big let off for the home side.

    Monaco look dangerous coming forward.

Viktor Gyokeres has shown some good strength at times to win possession for Arsenal and he does that now before then injuring himself as he clatters into Santiago Hezze when driving towards the box.

    Villarreal 1-0 Juventus

The goals are flying in around Europe at the moment and Georges Mikautadze has put Villarreal 1-0 up against Juventus.

The forward was put through by a lovely through ball and although he was tackled, quickly got back to his feet and finished confidently from Nicolas Pepe's pass.

Arsenal have been dominant, but in the small little bits of possession that OIympiacos have had they look lively and comfortable on the ball.

What a move and what a save.
